I'm new here, but have been a strat fan for awhile, just wish I could play one. My question is what do I have and what's it worth. My research has led me to believe it's a MIM texmex series (pre Jimmie Vaughan Signature Series) SN# MN546656, what looks like Tex Mex pups, spaghetti Logo on headstock and Kluson style tuners. I bought this for $120 @ a pawnshop and knew something was different about it (logo/ tuners), and either way the price wasn't bad, I was hoping. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried to post picture we'll see if they come across. Thanks in advance!

The Tex-Mex model would be my guess as well, likely sold as a '96 50th Anniversary edition (though its serial number seems to indicate a '95 build date).

For $120 it'd be hard to walk away from a deal like that......nice score!

Appreciate the reply Arjay, I know the the value of most objects is what it's worth to you, but would like to get other peoples opinion of what they think it's worth. All replies are appreciated & welcome. To me it has some value because in a sense this was the proto type of the Jimmie Vaughan Sig. Series and was only made in this way for a couple of years b4 it became the JV Sig Series. Overall it isn't nothing special but it's the quantity made (which I'd like to know also) and the personal appeal to the individual.

Thanks again,
BJ

The T-M's show up periodically on Ebay, usually priced between $450 and $575.

Definitely a nice price, good deal. The Tex-Mex pups are some of my favorites, great sound.

Here are shots of the Tex-Mex pups, front and back, if you want to compare the pole pieces stagger and peek under the pick guard of yours.

Yeah it's a tex-mex for sure. I have 2 of them. That's a good price. I paid $150 for a Daphne blue one and I think $225 for a yellowish one that was mint.

They're really nice guitars.

Yeah, I think the pawn shop didn't really know what they had, because they had other strats that in my opinion weren't as good and priced $200 - $300. The vintage tuners and logo do kinda throw you off a little if you don't know what your looking at, but then again that'swhat caught my eye to begin with.

Thanks again for the input everyone!
BJ

Makes you wonder what the guy who brought the guitar to the shop got for it, considering the steal of a price you got it for.

Oh the pawn business.. business based on thriving on the misfortune of others.

Great score for a 120, Jimmie Vaughn Strat Tex-Mex was a maple neck so the strip on the back of the neck with vintage style tuners. What is written on the label on the back of the head stock?
Cheers :? 8)

"Fender 50th Anniversary"

Fender started in 1946, so 1996 is their 50th ann, which makes it a 1996 model.
