I've installed a Seymour Duncan Lil' 59 in the bridge position of my Strat. I've followed the wiring diagram to the letter. I've managed to split the coil of the Lil '59 and make the 2nd tone knob control both the middle and bridge pickups. The only problem is the volume knob changes the tone instead of the volume of the guitar. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I've managed to get the volume knob to stop controlling the tone, but it still will not control the volume.

Sounds like you might have inadvertently connected something wrong at the selector switch. Wire from volume pot to selector switch connected to the wrong terminal?

Maybe post a good picture of your wiring, along with your wiring diagram.

This is the wiring diagram I'm using. I'm following it exactly. I've tried two different pots and had the same results.

Here are some pix of how I have it wired.

Your pictures are not showing up. If the controls are not working as desired, you obviously have not wired them correctly. Check your wiring again, expecially grounds. Make sure the third lug of the volume pot is grounded to the body.

Thanks for the advice, but it still didn't work. I'm happy with what I ended up with though. The volume knob controls the tone on all three pickups. I use a volume pedal, so I never used the volume control on the guitar anyway.

Hate to be harsh, but that is the worst wiring job I have ever seen. It is no wonder that it doesn't work. I don't see a wire from the center lug of the volume pot to the tip terminal of the output jack and I sure as heck can't tell if the third lug of the volume control is grounded to the volume pot body. There is so much solder on all of those terminals, it is amazing that anything works at all.

A mess to say the least. It does look like one extra wire on the tone pots' side of the selector switch. On the tone pots' side of the selector switch, there is a tone pot on first terminal, tone pot on second terminal, then what looks like a jumper to the next terminal (third terminal on tone side should be empty) or the jumper goes to the pickup side of the selector, and that jumper is not shown on your wiring diagram. That jumper is at least one mistake, and could very well be the main problem.

Doesn't look like you followed the diagram quite as accurately as reported. And with the poor soldering job, you might even have something bridged that shouldn't be.

I am with bluesky636, hate to be harsh, but you asked for help, and the fact is you've made a mess, and mis-wired at least the part of the circuit mentioned above.

Edit:
I also see in photo 2, that you have the terminal wired wrong on the push pull switch. The middle terminal on the side closest to the viewer, with white and green wires connected, is jumpered to the other side, and that terminal is jumpered back to the top terminal of the switch, and then grounded. Not only should it not be jumpered, the green and white wires shouldn't connect to the switch terminals at all. And, there is no wire connected to the middle terminal of the volume pot, and that terminal should connect to the output jack positive.

Not wired right, according to the diagram that you provided. This would definitely qualify as completely f@#*d-up!

You were the only one who's offered any advice, so I can't complain too much about your criticism of my crappy soldering or for getting on me for asking for help in another forum. Anyway, I'm gigging with it now and it sounds great.

Thanks. I might give it one more try. This is my first and last attempt at doing this kind of thing.

Sometimes it takes a little practice, that's all. Just let your iron heat up the terminals, and let the terminals melt the solder. Don't melt the solder with the iron and try to glob it on, use a minimal amount of solder. One wire at a time. You'll get it. And I didn't mean to criticize you for asking for help, that was a good idea. I bet that your first attempt at playing guitar wasn't great either. Don't give up. :)

I don't see how you are getting any sound out of it at all. It certainly isn't the best sound that you would get if it were wired correctly.

I guess it's dumb luck, but it sounded great at tonight's gig. I actually really liked having the volume knob function as a master tone control. I use a volume pedal anyway, so didn't miss having it on the guitar. I'm done fighting with the wiring on it. This is my backup guitar anyway. My Clapton Strat is my main guitar. Not a chance in hell I'd ever crack it open!

I suggest that you clean the wiring up and do it properly if you expect to get the best performance from your guitar instead of relying on "dumb luck". Even if the guitar were wired properly (which it clearly isn't), those solder joints can create all sorts of problems ranging from extraneous noise to complete failure.
