Hi everyone!

So, we all love strats! Im here to ask your opinion. Im 18, I've been playing for a little over a year now on a squire affinity which is great entry level guitar but im looking to get pass that and get what I consider to be a real Strat. I've played quite a few different ones, from the mex standard to the American deluxe. As much as I like the 'bling' of the deluxe with its n3 pickups and the s1 switching system, im also really liking the 50's roadworn! But something juat can't help me decide. Im just wondering what people really think is the best Strat out there right now so I can go try em out. I think my issue is that the basic standard felt just as good as the American standard and deluxe but the roadworn with its higher frets felt really unique!

Suggestions?

Hi FrooFender06,

I think that you already know, as you stated, it's the one that feels and sounds good to you. You have to try several and pick the one that fits you. Each of the guitars that you mentioned are someone's favorite.

I believe that the '50s RW has a 7.25" radius and tall frets, whereas the Std and Am Std have a 9.5" radius and medium jumbo frets, and the Am Deluxe has a compound radius of 9.5" at the nut, to 14" at the heel. These features will be a large part of the feel of the guitar.

No such thing... There is only the Best Strat on the Market for you !

Your skill level, level of dedication, style, aesthetic, aspirations, budget and even your physique all go into determining what's best for you.

Given your age, your Journey is just starting out. Personally, I wouldn't go over the top at first as your tastes will definitely change and this isn't likely to be the last guitar you'll ever buy. Leave yourself something to look forward to !

Good Luck with whatever you choose !

cheers!

See, this is my problem XD

I want one that will last a while as I hope to move away for Uni but even though each one has a different radius they all feel really comfortable! Then again, I suppose they would after playing an squire affinity for a year. It's all well splashing out on the dearest one with all the bells and whistles (Am Deluxe) but I thought the sound was to eh, modern I guess. That's why I loved the road worn because it really has got that classic fender sound. But than again, im for both sides of the argument on that one, yes it looks great and sounds great and feels even greater but they all look the same, even with the battered look.

I suppose what I should of asked is, What (in people's opinion) is the best Strat for the classic 50's sound?

I think I just have expensive tastes! A standard felt good but Id for for the Am standard just because it's better in quality... I dont know what I want anymore, just something special I guess XD

Yeah, I didnt get a chance to play one of them, I dont think they had one. It is definitely on my list of ones to try but another thing is, im kind of put off the MIM ones because so many claim they are awful and not 'true' fenders.

It is a completely subjective Q and A....
However the other 50% of your question should be what are you playing it thru ( amp ) and what style of music... :?:

Personally I find a standard equipped Strat the most versatile, played thru an amp ( Tube ) that is capable of smooth breakup from 5 to 9 is my preference.

My Strat selection is varied amongst 5 similar but differently voiced ....

(1) MIM Crimson Red with SCN pups.
(2) Rebuilt black Standard with vintage pups
(3) Rebuilt CAR Squier with HSS
(4) Rebuilt white 1/2 Squier with Carvin HSS pups
(5) stock black Aerodyne

The point is really which stratocaster feels the best for you at this moment in time. Your musical tastes will change, your requirements also , so it's just not possible to anticipate what will be the best Strat for today as well as tomorrow......

Yes, the 50 Classic is equipped with standard pickups, the Classic Player pickups 57/62, the two try to make his choice. I chose the 50 classic for its price and can change what has wants, pickups, tremolo, and not ruined. These are all Fender before!

So, I may have just narrowed it down. I played a 50's classic series today and loved it! I still need to try the 50s road worn but I compared the specs of both and the only real difference that proabably makes them different is the pickups! Other than that they are pretty much the same.

Thoughts?

Just so you know, Road Worn's, Classic Players, Deluxe Players, and Artist series are Made in Mexico. Some of these are american parts assembled in mexico, some are a mix of parts, some are all made in mexico. Some people are just snobs that think if it's anything less than an American Standard is not a Real Fender. Believe me there are some Gem's and Lemon's in every guitar made. Pick the one that suits you the best and ignore the snobs. In reality the amp is a far more important piece of the tone puzzle, and each guitar reacts a little different with different amps.

I know an amp also makes a difference. That's next on my list after I decide and buy either the classic or road worn and by the way, I know they are made in mexico but it felt perfect and played amazingly and as far as I'm concerend, Fender put their name on the headstock so it is to me, A Fender.

Regarding the amp for a paticular vintage souding guitar, best way to go? I'm not so knowledgeable on amps but they seem to get expensive really quick the higher you go up the list XD So any thoughts on that?
