No string tree?

And I've never seen that font used to stamp the serial number on a neck plate.

Wonky!

That is 100% fake. I would avoid it. The decal would never be that badly applied.

I guess on some vintage re-issues, the decal could be applied over the lacquer.
The birds-eye neck looks like quality but there's something not quite right.
You should ask Mike Eldred in the CS section.
Goodonya ...Mark.

All the custom shop bodies I have seen are marked as such with a CS stamped or other custom shop markings. I have a body with the same stamping in the wood SB F and the V in the neck pock its a 1999 62 American reissue Body. That neck does look nice if it plays again for the right money could be worth it but I would not buy it as a custom shop. What does the pickup guard look like underneath and what are the pickups

No truss rod adjustment access? The 12th fret markers (dots) are spaced too widely apart it appears? Badly applied decal?

Truss rod acess ; at the body like vintage ?

Not sure decal is bad , maybe only light reflexion ?

With regards to the neck:

No String Trees - neither does the 'Eric Johnson' Strat (the headstock is thinner).
Decal - On 50's re-isssues it is applied on top of the lacquer.
Truss Rod - On 50's re-issues it's done at the heel not the headstock.
12th Fret Marker Dots - The spacing looks correct for a 50's re-issue neck.

I'm not saying it's genuine, but the reasons stated for it not being genuine aren't totally valid.

The neck is also stamped with the name H (Herbie) Gastelum, who I believe worked in the Custom Shop.

I'm thinking that this is a guitar made frrmo Fender parts, but not a Fender CS guitar.

I wonder if there is a way to contact Fender and give them serial number. Does Fender keep a data base of their CS serial numbers?
