Likewise your Martin HD-28 danny, I love Martins they are such a great guitar built by a great company. Sometimes it's so refreshing to just pick up the Martin and hear that pure tone and not be concerned over tubes, pickups, speakers, pedals, cables, etc!!

As far as I'm concerned there is only one acoustic guitar, everything else is a copy!
(disclaimer: before i annoy anybody by saying that there are lots of BETTER copy's out there but wont start mentioning names each to there own etc)
There was a time ware owning a Martin guitar was on the same level as buying a new car etc (providing that you could find one !) so it saddens me to see all these sub quality so called base models that they have been coming out with over the last ten years, its almost like they have cheapened there name .

My 1999 fender mim toronodo and my 1967 gretsch Double anniversary are
both priceless to me.. but the most I have ever spent out of pocket on a guitar
was 699.00 for my 2010 highway one strat.

I inherited the gretsch from my dad when he passed. and the toronodo was a web special of 199.00 in 2000.

cheers

My priciest axe is my 2008 Desert Burst Les Paul Standard. I think it retailed for around $2,300 when I bought it, but it was a demo at GC and I got it for $1,500. I checked it out and it was flawless, so I nabbed it. 8)

Prolly my Hondo II/All-Parts P-Bass with Dimarzios, and my Aria Pro II Acoustic.

I paid $20 for dis. It is my baby. It is almost an exact replica of a 69' P-bass. The body is from the early 70s

Of course they're both worth a lot more than that.

Since we're talking "guitar porn" here, these two are probably the most "expensive" in the collection. Martin HD28V and Martin SPD-16K2.

Most expensive and least expensive guitar I own is my new 2007 SRV Signature Strat...and yes it is new, it had been on display in the store since he got it in - he says he doesn't normally carry "high-end" guitars but started stocking some American Standards which flew out the doors so he ordered a couple of other guitars including the SRV which didn't do quite so well. Let's just say I paid significantly less than the MRP..!!

However, many of the guitars I have owned previously would be worth more than that, the significant ones are:

- Gibson Les Paul Studio Limited Edition in Metallic Copper (I paid £1500 for it in 2002)
- Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton Strat

But the one I really regret selling is a 1990 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Limited Edition Transluscent White - Apparently there were only 25 made in each colour worldwide and I recently saw one go on eBay in one of the other colours for over £3500. I bought it secondhand in 2004 from a friend who brought it back from the USA for £1600 and sold it for slightly less than that and regret it to this day...

Still the SRV is very nice!!

1965 strat that I bought from a co-worker in 1985 for $125...he had scalloped the fingerboard and shot a coat of red Krylon over the original white finish.

It's vintage value is nil after having a re-finish and fingerboard replacement, but it's priceless to me.

My acoustic is my finest guitar, though: rosewood/adi Bourgeois Vintage D...$2,800 used.

danny, yeah that's the Clapton sig Martin, it's a short scale, easy to bend strings, very comfy to play, basically a great Blues machine. The OM21-Special is awesome, the sound blows me away every time I pick it up, I think Martin did some real tasty work on that model, with the old-style Pyramid bridge and the Vintage open geared tuners, here's the full specs for it:

ALL Les Paul Customs are made in the custom shop. But I have never heard of any being made with solid gold anything.[/quote]

Sorry to roast you Chet, but only reissue lp customs are made in the custom shop. IE 57 ri or 69 ri Black Beauties. The non reissues are actually made in the USA factory. I was suprised to learn this when I did!
Cheers
