Any experts on here that can tell if this is the real deal?

Custom Shop Strat Ultra

There's no COA.

Bit of an Oddball with the neck arrangement, also, I doubt that the phase (?) switch between the 2 Tone controls is original.

But, I'm so far from being an expert that I wouldn't wanna speculate on it's authenticity.

He does seem to want Big Money for it though without a COA.

Running the Serial # through GDP shows:
Guitar Info
Your guitar was made at the
Corona Plant (Fender), USA
in the Year(s): 1989 - 1990

Fender: Corona
Corona factory was opened in 1985, Corona California, with major guitar production starting in 1987. With the addition of a custom shop in 1987 the plant currently employs about 700 workers. Apart from general and Custom Shop Fender instruments and amplifiers, it also encompasses Guild acoustic & electric guitars.

GL

cheers!

I have no idea whether it's a real CS or not: Mike Eldred is the man who might have a useful view on that.

Meantime though, one of the specs makes my eyebrows raise. Why would anyone build a guitar with an ebony neck - and then paint it all over and put an ordinary rosewood fingerboard on the front? I don't smell a con, I just suspect the owner has that information wrong.

Though I'd be fascinated - and perplexed - to learn that it is just as he describes. Mike Eldred...?

Cheers - C

It was posted in the mega Strat Plus/Plus Deluxe/Ultra thread last weekend. General consensus among Xhefri, Chromeface and myself is it's legit as that was an early CS "standard model" along with those set neck Teles from that same time frame (1990-1993-ish). If the owner had the COA it would likely go for a bit more.
