I collect 1995-96 Limited Edition American Standard Stratocasters with matching headstocks. I love the looks of these guitars though the neck profile is rather narrow. The 6 colors are burgundy mist, olympic white, lake placid blue, candy apple red, surf green and ocean turquoise. Is any one else familiar with these guitars? They were a limited production with each color made for 6 months (over an 18 month period) then discontinued. I'm seeing one in the wild frontier (eBay) with a pearloid pickguard and trem plate. Wondering if anyone knows whether that was an option originally back in 1995. I'm thinking it was a user modification. Any help is appreciated

Hi stratocastro: I presume KidBlast means a link to the Ebay sale, so's we can see the guitar in question.

Far as your question is concnerned, I have an instinct the pearloid pickguard is indeed a user mod, but I stand to be corrected.

Cheers - C

+1

Very few factory-original guitars were fitted with the pearloid pickguard. The only example I can think of in the recent past is the now-discontinued Deluxe Powerhouse Strat (and it's a MIM model).

I love the perloid. Don't have it on my strat, but it looks good on my Giffin...also like the tortoise shell especially on black guitars...
