Hello!

I was recently playing an American HSH Strat at guitar center the other day and I fell in love. I especially like how it sounded with my slide, as I play a lot of slide guitar blues.

Unfortunately, I did not like the color configuration at all and the guitar was quite ugly. Therefore I didn't make the purchase. Also I hear that guitar center is a pretty expensive place to buy.

However, after doing some research online, I cannot find ANY American HSH Strats... Is this really THAT rare of a guitar?

Can anyone offer some guidance on where I can find one? Looking for an American between the price of $800-$1000 i guess...

Jordan - the HSH American Standard Strats were a special run (Fender calls these "FSR") done earlier this year. I think there wereat least two colors, but they were both kind of a dark stain.

Unfortunately Fender doesn't put the specs up for FSR models for very long - usually they are only on the website until Fender sells out the run to their dealers. The runs are usually about 200-250 guitars per color for something like this.

You may have to modify a Strat for HSH. I'm thinking of that too. Luckily, American Standards are HSH-routed, so it can be done. Locating HSH Strats in the timeline, though, is quite difficult. So far, the only American HSH Strat I know about is the FSR Hand-stained Ash Strat- there's the in-production Blacktop Strat HSH (MIM), one FSR Charcoal Grey HSH Strat (MIM?) and one very old, long-withdrawn HM Strat HSH, apparently made in the US.

I'd like a Fender HSH Strat for myself. It's my personal favourite combination- not quite ideal, would be shunned by Strat purists, but it's got a good range of tones. If only I could get one in a budget, I'd get it.

Has anyone bought any of those amber HSH Strats on Guitar center? I'd like to hear some ownership stories. If I have one of these, I don't need to mod it at all.

How much does it weigh in a case? I know the alder-bodied American Standard weighs 22lb, but this is in ash, so I'd expect it to weigh more.
