Hey everybody, i hope this isn't a stupid question, but i wanted to know if you would recommend keeping a humidifier in my strat case. I know that humidifiers are usually for acoustics but i heard somewhere that they help with solid-bodies also. If it makes any difference i have a 2012 American Stratocaster Deluxe with the Ash body and maple fretboard. My house is very dry and i dont want the wood to warp or have the finish crack or anything of the sort. Thank You.

I do. It will help to avoid 'fret sprout', among other things.

You don't need it if humidity is 25 % or more in the room.

A very good acoustic , the ones made with "solid" wood need it . Acoustic made in ( like ) plywood don't need .

For a solid body guitar unless you have a very very dry place and the humidity is less thas 20- 25 % is good the have an humidifier.

My main concern placing a humidifier in say the case would be possible mildew and corrosion of the metal parts, incl. strings and electronics.

cheers!

Not certain if there's sarcasm lurking here or not...

But I can take a joke with the best of them !

Oh and btw, Old Guys DO Rule ! I was born in the year of Rock & Roll and the year of the Stratocaster - 1954 !

In any case, not really knowing anything, at the store, I boiled my choice down to this guitar or an Eric Johnson Strat. To my untrained ear, this one sounded better and felt better in my hands, which are fairly small.

I've since found that the 'C' neck of my Tele seems a little easier to play than the 'V' neck of the Strat. But, then again, I'm still trying to teach my fingers and wrist to move and bend properly. I can play the Tele about 30 min. longer than the Strat at this point, but I can play all my chords and scales with either one.

Now as time moves on, and I actually get a sense of what I'm doing, my opinion may change, and if that's the case, I can always make a switch.

cheers!

The post helped me also. I was wanting to ask the same question and ended up getting the answer.
