Hi there, i'm new here and joined to ask a question, but hope to stick around and talk fender with some other guitar players.

I've had an old Squire 2 since the early 90's and it's been through all kinds of frankenstrat mods, but still has the original one piece maple neck (sanded down) and plywood body. It sounds pretty flat and neutral (never heard even another squire sound even close to it, sounds almost cardboardish), which i suspect is from the ply woodbody, and i've been thinking about swapping it out.

Question - Do the squire II necks fit the standard strat size neck pockets? I seem to remember hearing they don't, but cant find anything on it from a search.

I know, I should probably just go for a new strat, but this axe has sentimental value as i've had it for 20+ years.

Yep, the Squier II necks fit just fine on most Fender-style bodies.

I've got one right now attached to a Japanese Fender reissue body - still one of my favourite feeling necks, I've had it for years, lost count of the amount of bodies it has been bolted to. The ply body wandered off many years ago.
