I doubt it, Deluxes have pearl dot inlays, metallic Fender logos and the S1-switching in the volume pot.
The picture doesn't show those features.

guitardaterproject.org can help you. You write your serial number there and learn wich year and where is your guitar made.

They're great, but not up to date with serial numbers after 2010.
You don't get the specs there either!

The serial in the picture is a 2011 or 2012 serial number (I'm not 100% up to date either, so I'm not sure if the serials beginning with US (= serials after 2009) show the year with the first two digits or just with the first, as they did in the past with standard serials.
So: US1xxxxx would be 2011 or US12xxxx would be 2012. :?

EDIT:

Hi moevb,
This is a fairly new one and hasn't made it into our database yet so i figured I'd just slip in and tell you that it is essentially an American Special SSS Strat with a Satin Stained Honey burst finish. Yours looks to have been completed 9/10/2012 and shipped to GC 9/26/2012
Here's the specs for an American Special (sorry we don't have the FSR in yet!) Cheers,
rob

Ah, thanx for clearing this up, Rob, helped me, too! ;)

Here she is, Serial# US12202922. Well the wait for Christmas was well worth it. This guitar plays amazing! Nice fast, smooth neck, pickups sound pretty good, may upgrade them later? Overall I am very happy with this Strat! Haven't played it through my Orange amp yet, but it kicked $@! through my 1966 Vibrolux. As promised I tried to post a pic of them, but it is not showing up on my end. The joys of posting from a mobile device! Maybe you can paste it in your address bar & see it.
Cheers! :D

Congrats on finally taking custody of your Hand Stained American Special. You have more patience than I would have had. :)

I bought mine when the satin stained special runs first showed up in October. I think the first list of specs was correct... it's an American Special Strat with American Standard pickups. That was confirmed to me because the bridge/middle pickup tone control knob has the Delta Tone detent. Try turning it and if there is resistance when you roll it down, it's the Delta Tone.

You need to copy the info from the IMG Code field and paste it into your message if you want a Photobucket pic to show up in the Forum. It's a bit trickier to do on a mobile device. It requires a tap and hold on my iPad until the copy/paste options appear. One click copies the info automatically when I'm using a computer.

Enjoy your new Strat!

John

Thanks, John

There is that resistance in the tone control. At first I thought it was stuck, but I feel much better about it after seeing your last post. Thanks for the tips on image posting. Hope you all have a Happy New Year!

I picked up mine at GC today - the hang tag says Texas Special pickups.

Still seems to be a conflict of information.

Great guitar.

I have both an American special HSS w/ texas specials and an American standard SSS w/fat 50s. I much prefer the fat 50s, but I do like the Texas specials.

What you have is a Fender Factory Special Run Hand-Stained Honeyburst American Special

Image

I bought one of these at GC back in February and it is the subject of a few threads on this forum.

I returned mine and ordered a "standard" American Special after confirming with Steve Danielak from Fender that this FSR model actually does NOT have Custom Shop Texas Special pickups contrary to Guitar Center's advertising and specs. It has American Standard pups. It does however have the Greasebucket Tone Circuit.

Steve also wrote to me that over 2000 of these FSRs have been made for distribution by Guitar Center. And yet Guitar Center doesn't even have the specs right for their exclusive Strat!

When I returned mine to GC, they read Steve's email to me and then pulled my pickguard as well as the pickguard of another one they had on the wall. It was confirmed that both had American Standard pups. The store mgr was very apologetic and gracious... but I notice GC has STILL not updated the description and specs on this guitar on their website.

However, it is entirely possible that some folks might prefer the American Standard pups over the Custom Shop Texas Specials... but I particularly wanted the TSs. Either way, GC should correct their advertising of this particular guitar!

Sorry for the blurry pic!

Just picked up on this thread and 'why am I not surprised' is the best I can offer. Wonder if the pickup selection was particular just to the GC FSR or changed for the line in general. If the latter is true, that would be a deal breaker for me on this one during the current sale.

As an aside, you can't imagine how many guitars we've seen photographed against that wall in AZ these past nearly six years. I'd love to see the entire arsenal someday.

ZZ, the "regular" American Special Strats (candy apple red, surf green and 2TS) have Custom Shop Texas Specials and Greasebucket circuits. I have confirmed this on my CAR Am Spl with Fender as well after the FSR debacle!

The two single coil pups in the Am Spl HSS models are also Texas Specials. It is only the Guitar Center FSR Hand-Stained Honeyburst Am Spl that has standard pups.

Here is the irony: The FSR comes in at $799 and is SUPPOSED to be $100 cheaper than the regular American Specials... however, with the Spring Break sale, the regular Am Spls are $100 cheaper than the FSR despite having the more expensive features of gloss urethane finish and custom shop pups!

I just picked up a new FENDER FSR AMERICAN SPECIAL STRATOCASTER HAND STAINED HONEYBURST today! I love it! It definatley has American Standard Pickups as well as the Delta Tone circuit. You can tell by the indent on the neck/middle pickup tone knob when it is dialed in at 10. Once you turn it slightly past 10 there is no resistance like a regular tone control. Sweet!! It sounds awesome. I know alot of players prefer the Texas Specials, but I prefer the American Standard setup!!! Once again Sweet Strat! Even sweeter price! I got it for $679.99 at Guitar Center.

From the serial appears to be a 2012 model. FSR is Fender Special Run made exclusively for GC.

Hey, thanks for all the posts on the Guitar Center Honeyburst FSR stratocaster. Bought one yesterday and the tag DID read that it has Texas Specials...yet on CG's site the June new arrivals are listed as having standard strat PU's. After a lengthy search this morning and an email questioning this confusion off to Fender or clarification, I stumbled on this thread and found answers to this question. Having had a previous Strat with the Delta Tone circuit, I recognized the lower tone control as being this. Playing the guitar through my Blues Deluxe amp, it did not sound at all as Texas Specials are described. It sounded exactly like my previous Am Std. Strat. Still very happy as most owners are with this guitar. Although, I am still curious about the sound of Texas Specials and may have to find a Strat with them and hear them before considering a PU switch-out. Again, many thanks to you all for the great info and homework. This is my first maple neck. Only ever had rosewood neck Strats for decades. An interesting change. Any truth to the tone difference between the two anyone can testify to? Thanks!
