Hi everyone!

I just bought a new Stratocaster from Guitar Center last night. It is an American made guitar with a hand stained finish. It played and sounded great so I took it home. However, I cannot find anything about this guitar anywhere. The model number is 0170171-342. The serial number is US12202093. I would love to find the specs and any other information about this guitar. If I hadn't bought it new at Guitar Center I would be a little skeptical. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I have put a couple of pictures of it below.

Thanks!

Moe

Are you saying GC can't tell you anything about the products they sell?

That's correct. The salesman didn't have any information on the guitar. It's not listed in their catalog or on their website. It is listed on the tag that came with the guitar as FSR AM SPEC STRAT MN STN HBST. Fender does not have anything listed on their site for this guitar in the FSR section or the American Special sections. Like I said it plays and sounds wonderful. I would just like to find out the specifics about it. Thanks!

Contact Fender consumer relations, they should be able to help you.

Thanks for the advice Minnesotastrats. I sent them a message a little earlier today. I was hoping that I may find someone out there that knows something while I wait for Customer Relations. The last time that I contacted them I never heard back. It's so weird that this guitar isn't listed anywhere on their site. Now it is my destiny to find more information. :)

Thanks again!

Moe

Hou-Tex it does kind of resemble the strat on the link that you posted. But this guitar isn't a sunburst or even painted for that matter. It is hand stand and is not glossy. And the model number doesn't match any of the American Specials. The model number comes closest to matching the FSR guitars on Fender's site. Here are the only two pages on the internet that seem to have any information at all. Notice that the second link says "The Honeyburst FSR is fundamentally a Made-in-America Stratocaster with American Standard pickups". I though that the American Special strats came with Tex Mex pickups. I'm so confused. :)

Thanks! It plays better than any guitar that I've owned. I currently have a Gibson ES-339 as well. But this strat is much more fun to play. It felt and sounded better than other more expensive strats.

I finally found some specs on the guitar. I can only find it listed on 3 different sites in the UK. Interesting to me that this guitar is said to have American Standard pickups instead of the Texas Specials in the typical American Specials. I have no idea what the difference is. But it's supposed to be an upgrade.

It's a Guitar Center exclusive run American Special Strat. They also have a run of Telecasters finished the same way with a hand stained satin finish....
They advertised them in the last 2 Guitar Center flyers I got in the mail....
