I'll cast my vote for the venerable Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 10-46 since I've been using them longer than I can remember.

However...I'm strangely motivated to try the Fender Original (pure nickel) Bullets just because there seem to be some strong opinions in favor of their sound.

I'd also try the Cobalts at least once...just to hear how they sound.

D'Addario 10's

Normally DR 10-46 on Fenders, mostly as that's the thickest thing that'll squeeze through the Wilkinson nut on my Plus, so that's what all my guitars of that scale length get for consistency. My shorter scale guitars get DR 11-50's.

However, I restrung the aforementioned Plus with Ernie Ball Cobalt 10-46's this afternoon, just to see what they're like. Sound good so far, definitely a different feel, but I'll be more interested in how they sound after they've played in a bit.

I've really enjoyed the feel and sound of the Fender Super Bullets. I've got 9's on my American Standard and 10's on both of my MIM Standards. My G&L F100 has D'Addario 10's at the moment.

My favorite of all time is Elixr 10's but if I'm trying out different pickup combos or something where I know I'll be doing a teardown soon, I'll run with D'Addario EXL-110 in 10. If you buy them in a multi pack you get a good price break per set. Once I'm happy with the setup and the strings wear out, the Elixr's come out!

I really like Sfarzo SFT Screamers in 10-46 or 11-48. Second choice would be Curt Mangan Nickel Wound in the same sizes.

You managed to name two brands I've never even HEARD of! To what do they compare?

I was using Snake Oil Brand strings while they were available but since they are no longer I tried to find something that felt and played similar. The Sfarzo are very similar to those - nickel/tin alloy that I like. The Mangan and Sfarzo seem to feel similar in tension to me. They bend a bit easier than other strings I have used. I've tried the new Ernie Ball cobalts and have went back to the Sfarzo.

Ernie Ball Slinky Top Heavy Bottom .10-.52 on all electrics.

Elixer 10's- cant use anything else anymore as I just love the feel and longevity.

Nope, I use GHS Boomers 11s. Haven't used any other strings that I like better than GHS.

I settled on 10's, but I tend to switch between EB regular slinkys, D'Addario nickel wounds, Fender 250's, Fender bullets, and Fender super bullets.

I'm searching for a compromise between nice tone and inexpensive.

I use Boomers also,use to use EB's but they seem to rust up quick on me,I am trying out the Boomer heavy set on my LP but am digging the 9's on my new Strat so I might give them a try on my LP. Reguler Boomer 10's on my SG
