Hi,

Thanks for your time.

I own a 2006 MIM Strat (serial # MZ6070066) with some unusual but obviously factory stock features: highly flamed maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, locking tuners with Fender logos (Sperzel?), faux tortoiseshell pickguard, solid trem block, "F" embossed neck plate, finish is similar to Candy Apple Red but several shades darker.

Regular MIM electronics, 3 single coil pickups, CTS pots and CRL switch. Chrome hardware. Factory routed for HSH pickup configuration.

It has the round silver "Fender 60" tag on the back of the headstock, as do all 2006 Fenders. There is no "Limited Edition" sticker on the guitar, as do many FSR guitars.

I'm guessing that this was a Guitar Center/Musician's Friend FSR or Sam Ash limited edition guitar, but I'd like to know what it was called if possible.

Thanks agin,

Bill

You're seeing the images stored in your computer's cache memory.

You need to link to the pics by using Photobucket's "img src" tags, just as chromeface has done for you.

Thanks for explaining that. So I still need to do this or what chromeface has done means that everyone can see the pics now?

Sorry I can't help, but that is one of the nicest looking strats I've seen in a long time. Which is weird as I prefer maple necks, I don't like red guitars and I usually think tortoiseshell pickguards are too over the top. But that guitar is the perfect marriage of them.

It's known as "curb appeal".

And your guitar is a fine example of the art......beautiful!

Guitarshark...nice guitar, I don't usually like tortieshell either, but looks great with that red :!: As for the flame on the neck, it seems since about 06 or so, this has been happening more and more on MIM guitars. Here is the headstock (it runs three quarters down the neck on the back) on my '07 60 Classic Series Strat, with some great figuring to the wood.

Hi Bill: that colour could be Candy Cola:

http://www.fender.com/en-GB/support/col ... d&color=11

But it looks more like a colour I've seen on Japanese Fenders, Old Candy Apple Red. Have a look at the OCR finish, fifth row down on this page:

http://www.guitar-emporium.co.uk/17.html

Looks a lot like yours, I think? Never seen it on a Mexican Fender, but that doesn't mean they mightn't have used it on an FSR Strat...

As far as the tuners are concerned, those aren't Sperzels. We can't see the back of the headstock, but if they are lockers with an F logo then they are Fender's branded version of Schaller locking machines. Good units.

Nice looking guitar. Love that flamey maple. Enjoy!

Cheers - C
