Hee-hee - if it's tarty metal-flavoured signature Strats with Richie in the name that interests you... have you seen this?

Oh baby - I especially like the trans-white-burst option. Damn the price: maybe time to put in a call to our friendly-neighbourhood Japanese Fender importer. Better see about some hair extensions as well...

Cheers - C

If you can get your hands on one of the limited production FSR models, I highly recommend it. I picked one up about 2 or 3 months ago and love it. Same price as the regular model but with a nitro finish, figured neck (mine had a a little bit of flame to it), and G&G hard case. Here's a link to some pictures I posted on Strat-talk:
http://www.strat-talk.com/forum/stratoc ... strat.html

I believe these only come in sunburst, but it is gorgeous finish. And it plays great. I haven't touched my previous #1, an '87 American Standard, since I got this guitar. Good luck!

Another option might be to get a standard Mexican to tide me over for now and then look at saving for something like the American Deluxe HSS which seems like my ideal strat. Love that Sienna sunburst finish too. I'm just a little concerned that the standard might not stay in tune as well, sound a little weaker, etc in comparison.

Decisions!! It's driving me crazy and I thought Les Pauls had a lot of different models!

How I wish I'd bought a Richie Sambora Strat when they were around. Like rocking horse poo nowadays. :(

Really comparing apples 'n oranges here, mate. Tuning stability should be no issue unless you're trying to do with a Strat what a Floyd was designed for. Even the American Deluxe won't rise to that.

Get thee behind me! ;)
That is VERY nice, but just a little over budget, ie twice it! It's like buying cars, that budget constantly creeps up.

Thanks bud. I actually just bought a really nice Epiphone LP 1960 Tribute Plus for everyday use to save my Gibson. Really nice guitar for only £450, have a look at one of them unless you're after the real deal. ;)

VERY nice Blue, especially that neck finish. I have had a look for them, but again rocking horse poo.

Nah, nothing like that Z. I just meant staying in tune in general, can't be doing with that on any guitar.

I Love mine (shoreline gold) CP50s strat. I'm mainly a Les Paul guy too, but this guitar has a great neck.
In fact I'm making me a Les Paul copy right now and and trying to copy the Soft V profile because I like it so much.

Here is my CP50s strat with two of its brothers, it is possibly the best photo representation of the shoreline gold colour that i have. The stock Fender photo dont give true idea of the colour. The maple neck also is far wore "yellow" in colour than the stock photo suggests.

Hope this helps.

Hi Nik73,
My answer might be a little biased since I just purchased a CP 50's Strat in September 2012. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this guitar to you. I am a hobbyist and, love all kinds of music. This guitar has some fantastic tones. The neck is just beautiful to play and bending strings couldn't be easier. The fit and finish are as good as any guitar I've seen or owned. Mine was set up right, without a mark on it.
Fender has a real winner here. For the money, it cannot be matched in my opinion. I have the 2 tone burst with the darker lacquer finish on the neck and head stock. She's a beauty! I tried several different Strat's out the day I bought this one and, I kept coming back to it. I plugged it into an amp for about an hour at the store; the rest is history. Try some different ones out in the same price range and see what you think. A guitar has to feel right to you, it's a very personal thing. Best of luck to you and, enjoy whatever one you do decide on.

Ron

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the info and help. After briefly considering getting a Sambora-esque Floyd Rose Strat (and even a Sambora ESP from ebay!), I've gone ahead and finally ordered a classic player 50's in the two tone sunburst! :D
Decided my first Strat should be a "proper" one.

Just have to wait a few days for it to arrive now. Can't wait.

Thanks again.
