When I put new pickups in my Standard I also added a blender pot kit I got from mojotone..

This pot goes in where one of your tone pots are. It allows you to be on the bridge pickup and roll on as much or as little of the neck as you want. You can also be in position 2 or 4 and roll on all three pickups if you wish. It gives you a lot of options when selecting active pickups.

Position 1-Brige or bridge with anything from a little to all of the neck pickup
Position 2-Bridge and middle with anything from a little to all of the neck
Position 3-Middle
Position 4 -Middle and Neck with anything from a little to all of the bridge
Position 5 Neck with anything from a little to all of the bridge.

You could rewire the pickup selector switch (at the expense of either position 2 or 4), install a mini-switch, a push/pull pot or a blender pot. The problem with blender pots though is that whichever pickup is wired to it is always in the mix even if it is dialed down to its minimum, thereby always affecting the tonality and output of the other pickup(s).
