Two weeks ago I traded my Jeff Beck Strat for a Gretsch Duo Jet. It was the deal of a lifetime as I'd always wanted a Duo Jet and they are significantly more expensive than the Strat that I traded. The thing was, for the first time, I didn't have a Strat in my collection.

Yesterday I fixed that. I traded a 2010 Telecaster Deluxe Re-issue for this.

Here is what the guy had put in the advertisement online for the Guitar.

It's a really sweet little strat, alder body and maple one piece neck with 50s v profile. I've replaced the stock with D. Allen custom shop Austin Blues pups and connected them up to a push pull 7 way wiring loom with far superior components. The standard zinc trem has been replaced with a Wilkinson solid steel unit. Its a great player with a nice low action (thanks Ray!) and a great classic strat sound, the neck is dead straight, true and a little chunkier than modern strats. Strap locks fitted instead of the standard buttons.
The quality of this guitar is streets ahead of the standard mex guitars and is at least as good as the US standards, there are a few minor dings that ive tried to show as best as I can but nothing major

The wiring details
Alpha 250k Push Pull Pot.. CTS 450 series 250K pots.. CRL 5 way lever switch.. K40Y-9 oil in paper Capacitors.. switchcraft output jack

Switching: options 1. Bridge 2. Bridge/Middle 3. Middle 4. Middle/Neck 5. Neck

Plus (with Push/Pull "On" or Pulled Up) 1. Bridge 2. Bridge/Middle 3. Middle/Bridge 4. Middle/Neck/Bridge 5. Neck/Bridge

Controls 1. Master Volume fitted with a 0.001uf/150k K40Y-9 treble bleed kit

2. Tone 1 - Neck fitted with a 0.015uf ( clapton woman tone ) K40Y-9 oil in paper for a thicker rich tone

3. Tone 2 - Middle & Bridge fitted with a 0.1uf K40Y-9 oil in paper for a very 50's 60's vintage tone

single coil pickup

Wilkinson WVP6 Tremolo - Steel Block

The wiring is crazy but works perfectly. The pickups are superb. All of the wiring and electronics have been upgraded. I've ordered a white three ply pick guard and trem cover as I'm not a fan of single ply ones. The Wilkinson Trem is very stable , I've only heard good things about them and the new block gives a lot more sustain. There's a push/pull on the volume pot so you can engage the bridge pickup with the other two so it can deliver more tones.

Nice, the neck looks darker than other vintage tints.
Looks gorgeous, the wiring sounds interesting.

Yes, I've never seen a neck that dark for maple.

I must admit that Clapton's Daphne Blue Strat came to mind when I saw it. :)

In addition to the electronic upgrades you're actually planning to install, did you also consider dropping active TBX and MDX tone controls in order to shape your sound and install a DPDT toggle selector for active/passive operation? I bet those D. Allen Austin Blues pickups are dead quiet enough to be boosted.
