We are auditioning some musicians for our band.

I don't want to take my entire rig, I own 8 guitars. I'm down to 2 choices. My 2011 Gibson SG Standard or my 2006 MIM Ash Strat I have put boutique p/us in the Stat.

You need a non-reverse Firebird with mini-buckers.

If you only want to take one, play both for the songs listed and the one that sounds best for those songs is the one I'd take. Knowing me though, I would probably take both.

Yeah - I'd bring both man....if you HAVE to take one, that Strat sure is pretty. Nothing wrong with looking good when you show up.

The Strat as it is the most versatile guitar ever made!

Take both by all means... I went to do a session once and from talking with the guy who wanted me to lay down some solos I thought taking my '61 SG Reissue was the way to go...the whole time I was playing it, I was thinking, should have taken my Strat because that was what the sound really needed. After the session, he tells me I don't think this is going to work. We may go with another guy, not quite the sound we were going for! I had the right solo, just not the right tone for it...could have easily layed down the same solo with the strat and made it work...don't over think it, TAKE BOTH!

Firstly, in this environment, what kind of response were you expecting?

Seriously...

But practically, if you can lug the Gibson around with you, you may find a song or two where it works better overall. Yikes...what did I just say? Forget that...you'll just look more impressive with a spare...but really, why do you need more than a Strat?

I have Les Pauls and Strats - if you have to pick one take the Strat its has more to offer.
