I would personally take the Standard Strat. I had a Deluxe HSS IN Montego Black (cool color) but I sold it. I didn't like the LSR Roller Nut & I thought the noiseless pickups lacked detail.
Somtimes, simplicity is better...

I wish Fender offered the deluxe without the s1 switching, I personally am not a big fan of that technology. I prefer the "less is more" theory. I like the scn's and the locking tuners, I guess that's why I have the 57 american vintage strat. good luck. 8)

There's a huge difference. I love the Alnico single-coil sound that's classic Fender Strat, and so I have to go with the Standard American. The AmDx has got among the best noiseless pickups on the market - the SCNs - and they're expensive. It's also got the S1 switching and so forth. So, I've always really really wanted to love the AmDx and the SCNs, but time after time I play the SCNs and they sound dead. I really appreciate all the technology Fender put into the SCNs and I noticed that with a lot of gain they perk up quite a bit and start to sound pretty good, but they can't do that sweet Fender clean sound even like my Highway One can. What I noticed is the fat strings just don't have the bite and crackle that I need. It's true of all noiseless I've played - Dimarzio, Becks, SCN you name it. They always just sound dead to me because I've been playing Fender single coils for a very long time. There's nothing like them, although for a small fortune Kinman's got some stuff if it works. So for me it's the American Standard all the way, and it does the clean sparkle even better than my Highway One. You have to tune in my Highway One right or you'll get a kind of metallic aftertaste from the Highway Pickups, but I love them since I know how to tune it in.

I forgot to mention the main thing is that the American like the Highway One cancels hum without giving up the bite and snarl we love from our single-coils because they've got the reverse-wound middle pickups. I'm not dissing the SCN or the Vintage noiseless that Clapton gets his incredible tone with or the Becks. All Fender noiseless are close and they're miles better than the harsh, toneless Giblson humbucker sound in my opinion, but they don't have the bite, the searing quality, and the crackle clean. Fender single coils with the reverse wound middle really dump the hum and give us that world-beating tone for whatever we're playing. I'll stick with that until noiseless is really as good.

I had my time to choose between the two and go figure the guitar fender charges more for was better, go figure. Seriously they are both great but you have so much more versatility with the deluxe it is simply phenominal. Look at more than these two the 62 hot rod is slick so is the 57 even try out some Pro Models or whatever the technical name is, I hear the Eric Johnson strat is nice.
