Hi All!

Greetings to you all from South Africa!

I have had this guitar for probably about two years or so by now, it is my favourite guitar I have ever owned.

When I first bought it, I posted on various forums to try and find out some more info about this guitar, but no one can really give me solid info about this model. I was told it is an early 80's strat made in japan, but I can not confirm or deny this. The trus rod opens up at the headstock and not at the heel like the vintage strats I have read about.

The bridge and tuners have been replaced with schallers and the pickups have been replaced with evans.

Here are some pics and some pics of the only serial number I could find when removing the neck. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

It's a Squier series, it would say Made in Japan in the back of the neck at the heel if it was. Seems to me like a Made in Mexico Squier series. Matching headstock is interesting, definitely a special run of some kind. Maybe other will shine up with more info.

Thanks atolleter, I appreciate the input. It seems this is quite an unknown model as I dont get too many replies or feedback, I suppose not being able to read the serial number properly also doesnt help much either :)

Thanks again!

Oh and by the way, all internet searches I do of squier series returns guitars with the words squier series on the headstock. This one is a bit different with Squier Strat on the head stock, so I am really not sure where it falls in.

Definitely not common, almost look like a contemporary Strat, some special run for foreign market? If you could get the serial to consumer relations they'd definitely shade some light.

I would love to be able to read the serial numbers... They are very blurred. Which tells me its old, I battle to make out the numbers.

I believe Fender started with Squier in 1982.

Then do you think it could be a re-issue of sorts based on the speghetti logo? Its also a pity all the electronics have been replaced as that could have helped date the guitar too.

But a vintage reissue wouldnt say Squier and it would have a 6 point bridge, this one is a mystery so far.

Yeah, I guess it will remain a mystery for a while. I think I need some better photos of it in more detail. I was kinda hoping it was made in 1980, then it would be my age.
