I'm on the market for a new strat, and I'm considering the SRV and JM strats, can someone tell me how they differ? I've never heard the Big Dipper pickups live... I like to play both of of Stevie's and John Mayer's style, but my main style is Latin rock, and use a lot of overdrive for my solos... So... Any advice???

To be honest the difference is really in the neck styles. The JM is a C -shape.

If I were you, I would buy a Deluxe Strat for the same price and get the compound radius neck, if you dont like the noiseless pickups, then you can always swap them out.

Neck is the most important thing, so play all 3. SRV, JM and Deluxe. Purchase the one that plays best. Mind you, no two guitars are alike. Two SRVs and JMs and Deluxe strats will all sound and play differently. Find your Mojo Maker.

i used to have a candy tangerine Ame. Dlx... loved the neck but was never happy with the pickups, even thou i changed the bridge one for a little 59er, didnt want to spend the extra cash to change the rest so ended up having to sell it... been playing humbuckers for a while now but i miss the single coil...
