The strat is like riding in a Cadilac, the tele, more like a pickup.

I'm a newbie (to Fender and playing guitar) and I own a Strat. I just cannot say enough about how much I love the sound from that guitar.
However..................
Recently I was in a Guitar Center to purchase a SCXD amp, and was trying out a Tele that was by the amp. And you know what, it felt easier to play than my Strat. It was easier to reach the upper frets (say above number 12), especially when trying barre chords (note the operative word "try" and not "play", I am new you see). This Tele might have been strung with 0.08's, but I'm not sure.
So, as always, play both and see what you think.

There's a huge difference between those two.

The Strat has three single-coil pickups, while the Tele has two humbuckers.

I've seen several people compare that Tele to a Les Paul.

Strats have more variety in tone so I'd say The strat you won't be dis-satisfied.

So how long do you put off buying a Teli before you cave in and latch on to one? I got the itch already to get one.

I have a standard telecaster and I love it. I rellaced the bridge pickup with a seymour duncan hotrail and it sounds sweet. I am also going to istall locking tuners. I know I should of went american but I was in a hurry and short on cash. Right now I am in the process of getting a strat. Looking for something along the lines of a Tom Delonge strat but with my own twist on it. Maybe just two pick ups and a hardtail bridge.

most tele's have two single coils.

the tele deluxe has two humbuckers.

the original poster said he was looking at buying a tele deluxe.
