Well, after being out of the strat game for a while, and getting by with my partsocaster I'm back in the game with a Strat Plus: kind of :)

When you're at a BBQ on a sunny sunday afternoon, and your friend casually mentions "You know, I've got an eric clapton stratocaster sitting in my cupboard gathering dust, do you want to borrow it until I need it?", the first thing you say is lets go have a look.

Well it turned out to be a strat plus, but seriously nothing wrong with that, especially since theres no strat at your house atm. Ne way he said he didn't play it and if I wanted to borrow it, he'd be glad to see it get some use. Fine... By... Me :) Thanks mate :)

Anyway heres some pics, Xhefri if you could shed some light on this guitar that would be greatly appreciated. From looking at your page, I'm pretty sure its just a standard strat plus but your page doesn't mention a standard black one of those. N e way, let me know anything you can, I'm especially interested in the body wood if you happen to know it.

I will PM you the serial Xhef.

Dan

edit: Sorry bout the photos, rookie mistake by me.

Dan,

First off that's really cool that your friend is letting you use the Strat Plus.

However, you're pictures aren't showing up, and when I try to copy/paste the urls I get a "forbidden" error. You might want to put them someplace public like flicker or photobucket so we can take a look at the guitar.

I am on the road right now so have had very limited internet and cell service. Picts are not showing up for me either. So not sure what to tell you!

I can't read the serial number but it looks like a normal Strat Plus to me - based on the style of Wilkinson roller nut it would be anywhere from late 1987 to early/mid 1993 (the serial number prefix would help narrow that down).

I'm pretty sure that black was a standard color on the Strat Plus for most of it's run - I've seen plenty of them in black over the years.

Thanks john, I too am pretty confident that it is what it is. It was only when I didn't see black on xhefris website specifically the strat plus page, I thought I'd check. Serial dates to a 1991.

Have no time to run it through the full rig until Friday, will hopefully have some footage to let you know how it goes

Dan

Yeppers, John C is right (as usual) as the Plus', both DX and Standard, came in black. Happy playing!
