...On my srtings that is!
Got this American Spcl Strat in May brand new. Love it. Been playing EVERY day since I got it. Noticed yesterday that there are little "bumps" on the E,A,D,G strings right above the frets. Anyone know why?

Well if you got the guitar in May and you've been playing it daily then it's probably time to change the strings. You're getting "bumps" (or "pits" if you look at it from the under side of the string) from just pressing the string down hard against the frets.

Bottom line - given the amount of playing you're overdue for a new set.

You need a bit lighter touch on the strings. If you play everyday then maybe change strings every other month. Look at a few youtube video's on the subject so you can do it right the first time.

It's natural and means that you are playing the instrument a lot.

I find that thinner strings put quicker, especially if you play heavy like me.

Oh. I thought this was going to be a thread about more long lens photos of Kate Middleton.

A-a-anyway. People have different feelings about how often they need to change their strings. Those for whom money is no object and who also have techs to do the work for them sometimes change their strings every day, so they always have that nice, brand new twanginess to them. On the other hand, I heard of a guy selling a vintage guitar from the '50s that still had the original strings on. Gosh.

Somewhere between those two extremes is probably right for most of us. You must have a nice, light picking hand if your strings got this worn without the top e breaking. So that's good.

Cheers - C
