Posterrevolution actually turned up a really cool one. I had never heard of the site before, I had only seen the allposters ones which are all super expensive or really small.

It was released back in 1998 from SRV estate according to the information on the poster and we found it at a vintage record store in Simi Valley Calif. in 2000, I am sure there are others and just found one on amazon.com

Will it make him a better Blues player? Somehow I doubt it.

So technically you are saying that because i dont have access to a guitar store that stocks many different types of guitars that i can try out, and as i have very recently took up this quest to finally learn how to play one, and realizing that i would like to persue this adventure, and would like to know i am using the correct tools for it , asking for advise is WRONG

No, no one ever said that asking for advise was wrong. But,

a. You are just learning to play the Blues.
b. It has been stated by multiple people in this thread that there is no one "correct tool" for playing the Blues.
c. You already have a guitar that will make an excellent Blues guitar.
d. You have been asked, but have not answered the question as to why you think your current guitar is not adequate for playing the Blues.
e. Your other thread indicates that you have already decided that you want to but a new, more expensive guitar as your "Christmas present".
f. At your current stage development, it is doubtful that a more expensive guitar will make you a better Blues player.

If you want to buy an American Deluxe Strat, buy it. It's a fine guitar. I would love to have one myself. Just don't be surprised if you find that it makes little or no difference in your plan to learn to play the Blues.

A. i just started the gibson learn and master guitar series, finished notes and almost completed chords.
B. it was comforting to have read that.
C. it was advised at the start of the G L&M guitar series to get an electric for learning barre chords, had no clue what i was buying , but i liked the shape and colour., before i recieved it i had no clue what a strat does, how it sounds, or even how it felt.
D. i love slow blues music, but have not reached that part of the course yet, so even now, i still dont know how to play it yet, and it became comforting to learn that i picked a system because of its colour and shape and that will be adequate for the job.
E. believe you me $1600.00 is not expensive, i blow more than that on a night out with the boys.
F. a fender american deluxe is not a more expensive guitar , it a better quality guitar than the one i own. and i seriously dont understand your say in this part, how can purchasing something prevent you from learning something better?

Clearly you don't need any advice on how to spend your money. Whatever interest I had in helping you out just got flushed down the toilet. Buy whatever you want.

@trini:

How Wonderful for you that $1,600 is not expensive... You are in an enviable position that not too many people share !

But, there are some things Money just won't buy, and one of them is playing the Blues !

You either have the Skill & the Feeling, or you don't... You may be able to acquire the Skill part by spending money (along with a whole lot of DEDICATION on your part)... But if you don't Feel it, it won't matter if your strumming a Pawn Shop Reject or the most expensive Fender Custom Shop creation... you're gonna Stink Big Time !

By your own admission, you are just getting started and know basically NOTHING ! (Just like me BTW). The guitar you already have is excellent and exceeds your abilities by a factor of 10,000 !

Why on Earth at this stage in your development, would you want to upgrade to one which exceeds your abilites by a factor of 1,000,000 ??

I have found this Forum to be especially helpful to a rookie, 'know-nothing', like me, and sincerely thank those who have taken the time to share their experience and wisdom with me, either directly or through the vast knowledge base that makes up this Forum. My hope is that in future I can repay them all by passing along what they've already taught me, and hope they will continue to do so.

The last thing on my mind is that I know more than they do.

I think you'd be best served by adopting a similar attitude !

cheers!

@ Lightnin MN well said
since this post started i have been in posession of a MIM std. strat for a few months now, and since if i have spent in total a couple hours with it since owning , that would be too much.
as i keeped stressing on, i am now starting off, i bought something based on its colour and shape. it was a great comfort to find out its good enough for what i want to persue. and most off all i am having a blast on what i am learning. but based on the guitar chorse that i am doing, i got it for barre chords and before this post started had no clue if what i have is great, good or a waste of time owning.
i am really having a blast of a time learning to play a guitar. i started working for a living since i was 17 and now that i am 51, i thought it was about time,
as to why on the american deluxe, i have always owned something based on quality.

You will bearly if at all notice any difference sound wise buying a new strat...... You will hear a huge difference buying a blues Jnr, there's no sense going nuts buying top end guitars when you have a low end amp..... The sound difference in between a solid state mustang and a tube Blues Jnr is worlds apart..... If you have to spray money even though your learning and have more than adequate gear.... Start there..... Your current guitars great......don't get me wrong I totally understand spraying money, on gear and nights out.... Believe me..... But you need to get the chicken to egg ratio right to start with...... think of it like there's no point having two new corvettes if they have 2.0L 4 Cyl motors in them huh....

If buying a new guitar will motivate you more and provide some excitement and you have no problem affording one then by all means go get one ASAP! Will it help you learn to play the blues faster and better, in a way, yes. The fun factor and motivation alone is enough IMO. But just ozrv mentioned, it'll be more complete with a tube amp like a BJ, or a Princeton Reverb or a Deluxe Reverb...

A real Blues player will make the cheapest Strat sound great, specially when plugged into a tube amp. If you dig the blues and are patient enough you will get there too, just don't expect it to happen overnight.

Why did you choose the Deluxe? It is a nice Strat, I have one... but those N3 pickups are not what I would call vintage Strat pickups, you do lose a lot IMO but you do gain a quiet guitar, not important to me, I WANT tone! If I were you I'd look at some of the other Strats available today, Am. Std. or some of the Vintage Reissues.

Most important thing to learn the Blues is to listen to as many Blues greats as possible, practice practice practice! And don't forget to have fun doing it.

I like your idea of getting the blues jr, some how i think i will be better off with that system, dont get me wrong i am sure the mustang 2 is a great amp for those who can play very well, but it is not for me, at this stage i would prefer one that i can just turn on and play.
Thanks
