I have a 1988 fender strat plus in bahamas green. Condition I would say very good, some minor fret wear and slight buckle rashes at the back.

I was thinking if the value of this guitar will continue to rise as years pass by. Will it be a good investment to keep it? Or should i sell/trade it away.

I have a pending acoustic trade for it though.

Need some help here!

What kind of acoustic?

I'd trade if it was what I really wanted, YMMV.

Before you do anything, search Members for our Strat Plus guru Xhefri and send him a PM on this question. Can't find a better source on the planet.

I'd keep it - I kicked myself repeatedly for selling my sunburst Plus 16 years ago to fund the purchase of a Les Paul. They'll probably never really appreciate much in value, but it's getting harder and harder to find a good one, particularly the earlier Wilkinson nut models.

I was stupidly lucky though, as it popped up in a local store in the used rack last year. After my wallet finally surrendered to giving a large chunk of cash, I took home an old friend which has been my main guitar again ever since.

Now I just have to cross my fingers and hope the 60's 335 I sold for peanuts comes my way again!

I did that with a used '93 Tele Plus, in pristine condition, which I had acquired for a song. I had swapped it out for a used Black Clapton in equally fine shape well over 10 years ago. I've never seen that Tele back on a rack yet and now, after Radiohead, hardly likely to get it for $350. It went on the wall for $650 after I had done the trade. Ya never know!

I've read that the Bahama Green E series (87-88).strat plus is pretty rare. But how rare? Does anyone know about how many there actually were?

Send a pm to "Xhefri''. He's our resident Strat Plus guru. Perhaps we'll all learn something.

Don't buy or sell a guitar because of the perceived value or investment potential. Most collectible guitars haven't even kept up with inflation over the past decade... keep or sell a guitar because you want to keep it or sell it, IMO.

GC has a mint '58 Strat in their Hollywood Store which they are asking $50K for. Apparently they feel that someone with that kind of chump change still offers them hope.

It's a rare colour.. but Strat Plus' tend to have a lot of nice colours. While the guitar will hold what value it has, I wouldn't expect it to climb in value, either.

If you can see in your future that you'll want to have a strat in your arsenal, then you might as well keep it as it is a nice guitar.

But again, it's not worth having money into solely from an investment standpoint. A real investment would be gold or silver if you'd like something that can only rise.
