This is the first time i've ever posted.

Can anyone tell me what type of wood was used for 25th Ann. Strat. body?
I've heard Alder, Ash, Maple Rock, Maple.
I just know that mine is very heavy.

Thanks

Northern Ash.

Mine weighed close to fifteen pounds.

I sold it the US Navy who's now using it as a sea anchor for an Aegis-class guided-missile cruiser.

the weight sounds about right, but Northern Ash is a new one for me.

My tailor has mentioned " Do you know your left shoulder is lower than your right?"

Thanks a lot.

Such lumber is generally found in the Pacific Northwest although I understand that the specie is also indigenous to the upper peninsula of Michigan and into Canada. It's a very dense grain and usually very heavy -- similar in many respects to maple. My 25th Anny was a beautiful sounding Strat but it was simply too heavy to play for extended periods of time. In the eight or nine years that I owned it, it never left the house.
