It's great if you understand that it's not a multieffects pedal, but an amplifier modeler.

Most people who buy them and are disappointed are guys who thought they were buying an effects unit. if that's what you want, buy something like a BOSS ME-50, which is just effects and nothing more, and is designed to drive an amplifier.

If you want an amp replacement for recording or direct-to-PA performance, then a POD is a great choice.

Try looking at some of the DigiTech multieffects pedals
Some like the bp80 start around 80$, others in the BP / RP lines are much more expensive :)

BOSS products are build like tank, last a long time, the less expensive ones use a lot of plastic.

You should be able to login to the Line 6 website and listen to some audio clips to give you an idea of what you'll be getting. I may pick up a pocket pod.

I've already listend to the audio samples. I want some sort of multi effect pedal that is easy to controll with your foot because I play in a band.Or is buying a bunch of other pedals (which is expensive) better? :?

Floor pods are cool. Go to your local guitar shop and test drive some pedals and effects.

Can you play it though an amp or is it just for the pa hookup.

You can play it through your amp. It's really neat when you buy pedals or effects processors, they have instructions included in the box which show you how to use them.

Just my 2 cents worth...
I've been using a POD 2.0 for about 6 years now - great little unit, except the floorboard controllers don't hold up very well. The POD 2.0 has some different sounding amp models than the POD XT. I haven't tried the latest and greatest POD yet.

These things sound great through a PA or through your amp, you just have to tweak it a little differently depending on what you are playing through. You can also add regular old stomp box pedals in-line with your POD for more variations.

Have fun!

I haven't heard that much about the floor pod. If you have a good computer, I would get the $100 TonePort... I've read some really rave reviews on this piece. I think it'd the XD-1

I'm actually running my Line 6 XTLive through a Fender Champion 600 at home and getting some outstanding tone. The XT comes alive when you combine it with the real warmth of tubes.

Look into an XTLive on ebay. They are going cheap now that the X3 is out.
