newb question on locking tuner - i unlocked the string.

Just bought my stratocaster delxe as first guitar from ebay. but i was a newb and isntead of tuning it I undid the locking tuner. Do i need to completely restring it now?

you should be able to just lock it again and tune it. You don't need to wrap the strings around the post on locking tuners, just pull the string thru, lock it, tune it, and cut off the rest.

do i need to unlock it completely, pull the string out and make it taut again?

Unlock, pull string through the tuner as tightly as you can (a pair of pliers and some determination will come in handy if it was previously snipped flush with the tuner) and lock. Job done. :mrgreen:

That fine guitar deserves a new set of strings. You don,t have to but I would.

I just picked up a set of those Planet Waves Self Triming/ Locking tuners, I'm going to be putting them on a BC Rich Mockingbird. I bet if I did that I be looking for a new set of strings!
