Any thoughts for a 2013 limited-edition run of EC Customs in the so-called "EC Red" finish matching Eric's custom Ferrari SP12EC?

We've kicked that one around as a good idea. We'll first have to wait and see what Eric chooses for the stage. That's usually the way it's gone down.

Not really on topic, but here's an ad for a fake strat that they put a fake clapton signature on the back of the headstock, They also use a Custom Shop logo that's like fenders, but with a frog on it, and they didn't do a very good job of putting the logo on it.
I look up the name of it and they actually have a website.

They have SRV strat too, that they actually threw a Fender logo on

My guess is the 2013 EC Red LTD will coincide with the 4th Crossroads Guitar Festival held at MSG NYC in April 12/13 of next year.

Surely Eric will bring his new Custom Shop axe onstage!

Very nice thread on those earliest Claptons. I was always under the impression that the 21-fret/on-off switch version was just a prototype as none showed up at any store near me until they made the change to the 22-fret/no switch version.

Great info; one of these days I'm going to have to add Duchossier's book on the Strat to my library.

Eric owned and played two Candy Green signature models, one was the 21-fret prototype with the mid boost bypass switch and the other was the so-called "Night Music" Strat which is essentially one of his Pewter "Smoker" guitars refinished in that colour for a short time in late 1989.

The Candy Green prototype (Lot #78) got also a 22-fret neck and the 25dB boost circuit; it's actually the only EC Strat in which the bypass switch had not been removed. Clapton was seen playing this guitar for slide during a gig with Mark Knopfler at Philadelphia City in September 7th, 1988.

We shall see how this all plays out....no pun intended. That red one might be one to own. [Shades of the Gilmour Red Strat]

Any ideas about offering the 2013 EC Red LTD with optional Gold Laces along with the stock VNs? Because Eric uses a few Lace-equipped guitars when he kicks off the slide repertoire.

I would be curious if he decides to try the Wampler SLOstortion for a test, this stomp box looks ideal for the late 80's/early 90's stuff.....

John C...it is a great book, I even replaced my first one with the 40th Anniversary version! There is a Sherwood Green '61 Strat in that book and everytime I see it I DROOL like a FOOL!

Send you a bib with a Fendor logo embroidered on it if you like.
