I've been playin guitar for 5yrs. And have never owned a fender. My old guitar was a yahmaha preety nice guitar, but it was time for an upgrade.I went to my local guitar center.I wanted a Gibson or an epiphone. The gibsons were way out of my price range and I didnt like the epiphone feel in the neck. Then I looked at the fenders. I picked one up and said this the one. The action in the neck, the feel of the body it was just perfect. I thought to myself I could change out the humbucker With a Les paul humbucker. User Stephenr66 said that les pauls wouldnt fit.So I was preety sad  The reason why I was asking about the bidge was that my bridge is sitting about a quarter inch off the wood, Is THIS normal? So thats why asking questions about the bridge to find out about it. Sorry if I got on your nerves with so many questions about the bidge.

The factory set-up of a Strat is with a floating bridge.
It should be about 3mm loose from the body.
If yours is higher put more springs in or tighten the 2 screws in the
tremolo cavity. First loosen the strings a bit and then adjust the screws
and tune to pitch.
For more info click on support and then click on the set-up guide.

Hang in there, Fender Strat. I have a tele that was set up bad from the factory. I tweeked it the best that I could, but it still never felt right to me. After playing it a few years like that, I finally broke down and took it to a guitar technician. He immediately saw some problems and is fixing it for me. I should get it back next Monday. I'm hoping it will feel like a new guitar.

The two screws which hold the springclamp in the back of your body under the cover. If you wanna no more take my advice and go to the set-up
guide on the Fender site.

Howdy Fender Strat, i'm 51 and playing guitar for 35 years.
Glad to be of help, when i started it was just trial and error.
Cheap Italian and Japanese copies and no info on anything.
Things are surely better these days with the internet.
Keep on rockin' in the free world.

Peter
