I have a problem with Fender trying to get a replacement Roland board for my VG Stratocaster. I bought it used in perfect shape last year, but the Roland board stopped working. The VG is not under warranty. Fender customer service said there were replacement boards available, but only from Fender Authorized service centers. The person gave the phone # to one and I called them and they said the part is listed as "warranty" part only and could not sell me one, even if I sent the old one in first.

Of course, this is very frustrating as I am willing to pay for it, no problem. The MSRP is a somewhat pricey $400.00.
Anyone with any experience in getting a "warranty " replacement part when a guitar is out of warranty?

Thanks for any help!

Hello everyone... I know that this is an old topic, but I recently bought a mint condition 2nd hand Fender VG American Stratocaster right in the States... And I have a little big problem with it. Everything was perfect until playing it for a while, I noted that something was wrong. Using the Roland pickup in any "Tonal" or "Modeling" given option , sometimes the signal is lost for a split second, also changing the pitch notoriously... I don't know what to do, because I actually live in Chile, and here this model wasn't introduced by Fender, so the authorized Fender technicians don't know how the system works... I'm really sad, because I thought that I was making a great deal buying this amazing guitar, but I only got huge headache with it... Can you help me somehow? Any advice or idea? Thanks!

Best I can suggest is to contact Roland and see if there is any resource from them. I have a Deluxe VG out of the Generation One models which I bought when the line was D/C'd. It doesn't get much heavy play which why it's likely lasted. The next generation had different modeling voices. Though Fender marketed the guitar, it was mainly handled through Roland.
