We all konw everything is good for something, so I wondering what do you think the 'light' tone and 'heavey' tone and 'flame 、 Quilted and birdeyes maple' tone and common hard maple tone.
In my poinion i think common maple is the best tone.
So what is your viewpoint!
Thank your answer

Poinion as in Poignant.... :?

This is a debate that has multiple threads on multiple Forums.....You can argue the inverse until you are blue in the face and the cow's come home...

As beautiful as figured Maple is, the predominant choice is Maple with lite figuring.
Bird's eye and Flamed Maple are a result of the wood incuring a disease in it's growing life, the wood is actually unstable in as far as consistency from head to toe. The grain is running in all directions which will hamper resonance, so it is really about an aesthetic look versus a tone.
There is a compromise and you'll find that in the case of a custom build, the builder will advise against picking deeply figured Maple for the neck....BUt... :?: :?:

If you are seeking the best resonance from a piece of Maple than the straighter the direction of the grain the more likely the resonance will be consistent. It's a conduit problem, the string vibration must travel from head tuners to bridge via the body and neck. any additional resistance other than the wood will dampen those vibrations cycle....
It really gets into physics and If one wishes there are studies on a stringed instrument rate of decay according to the materials used as well as methods in its construction....

Perhaps you'd care to opine on how quarter-sawn lumber affects your hypothesis......?

the best sounding maple is the older Pre CBS maple. the nutrient content of the soil back then was much higher, so the trees grew stronger. and the figured woods sound like crap because it is actually a growth defect in the wood (tree tumor) termites wont even touch that stuff, would you eat a cow tumor?
also the biggest tone difference will always be related to the lunar cycle and when the wood was cut during this. when the moon is closer to the earth the gravitational pull actually draws moisture into the tree and causes the wood to swell (become lighter) and when the moon is at its furthest point the wood becomes moisture deprived and shrinks (dense and heavy) just like the ocean tide.

also summer germinated trees will always have a warmer tone than winter germinated trees, that's just common knowledge though.

Agreed about the pizza but a very close second to me is a nice, juicy burger from the charcoal grill. To wash either down, a tall, cold glass of raspberry iced tea!

I'm stickin' with Pizza! Wood fired pizza. Any kind of wood, but maple's best. Or plywood.

Go with MDF. The fumes from the burning adhesive are reminiscent of the herbs used in Tuscan-style marinara sauce.

hah that reminds me of a camping trip  when i was young me and some friends went camping one night. since we were out in the country we just grabbed a tent and started hiking. well we had some trouble locating fire wood but there was an old run down trailer home near by..... we burned tons of MDF and treated woods in that fire, cooked hot dogs on it to  no telling what we inhaled that night

The consensus thus far:

Pizza and meats cooked over an open flame, served with a cold beverage. :D
