Alright, it works again! thanks alot for the help.

I brought it to a guitar shop which was by luck a fender dealer, they put on some new strings, and set it up by the book, costed me around 45 euro's with strings, but totaly worth it!

Thanks for your support

Well, I hope you were able to watch how they did it so you can do it yourself next time and save the money. Its not that hard.

Okay, so I'm a bit slow getting on the RockBand wagon. Picked up a secondhand Fender Squier Strat, and found that the fret detection was pretty poor due to the used/corroded strings. The ones that did register ok, played fine with light strumming.

Read the manual and took to a Fender dealer to have it re-stringed. I was very clear that it must be Fender 250 nickel-plated strings 0.009 to 0.042 gauge for it to work properly.

Now most of the frets detect perfectly (except very high 21 and 22 frets), but now does not pick up strums except with very hard strumming as in this post.
I adjusted the pickups, which improved, but was still very poor. Adjusted the potentiometers in the battery area counterclockwise several turns (no idea what I was doing due to no instructions anywhere...), which also improved, but not 100%

I called the guitar shop to ask which strings they used. They were a little vague until I said which strings I asked for. They said "Yes, those ones." They may have used Fender 150L pure nickel, but insisted they were nickel-plated steel. Is there any way to know?? I am considering buying a new set of strings to do it myself to be sure...

I reckon Jimmy Page would agree with you...But you might have to ask Jake Holmes for permission to use it! ;)

No idea these things existed either...I wonder if the next iteration of Call of Duty will come with a semi real M40 machine gun too?

But hey, If it draws people into real guitar playing I have no gripes with it. Miles better than that crappy guitar hero plastic wobbly thing.

150s are pure nickel. 250s are nickel plated steel.

After setting pickup height as close as I could get without string buzz on a hard strum with damper off, I raised the damper again and spent some time fiddling with the 6 potentiometers inside the battery compartment.
Plucking individual strings and watching for the string vibration on the Rock Band practice mode screen served as an indication of how hard I had to strum for each string to register. I set each one as sensitive (counterclockwise) as possible. Turning too far anticlockwise results in no signal at all, but just turn clockwise until it registers strums again. I guess that's the maximum strum sensitivity. From there I had to gradually back it off (clockwise) another few turns to avoid triggering from an adjacent string with heavy strumming. It was a fine balance, but now works flawlessly with the damper on, even with a very soft pluck!

Hope this helps someone, because I couldn't find any instructions about the potentiometers..
