Hey folks ....
I'm 8 months now into my learning guitar journey, all is well. Barre chords still present a challenge, but I feel progress being made. Still learning on my Strat clone 1987 Peavey.
Anyway, I'm thinking about buying an American Standard Hand Stained Ash Stratocaster HSH Electric Guitar - Wine Red. Not many shops have any left since they were an FSR last year, but I think I have found one.
I haven't seen any reviews on the guitar anywhere. Nothing on youtube, either.
I like the Strat Sound, but I also like the Les Paul sound, as most of us surely do. At this point in my learning, I tried playing a couple Les Pauls in the store, but for some reason I can't play them as well as I can play my Peavey.
Anyway, will this American Standard I mentioned give me a little more bark than the guitar I have? Maybe something similar to a Les Paul sound? I know a Strat is a Strat and a Les Paul is a Les Paul.
Or should I just get a new American Standard HSS?
Any opinions, reviews, comments??
Thanks, all.

A strat is never gonna sound like a LP, but who said that was a bad thing? :)

Not a bad thing at all.

If you are lucky enough to have found one, I can only tell you that I was too, and if you like the versatility and amazing clean sounds like I do, this guitar can put 'em out. It's my very favorite guitar I have ever played, and I've owned a whack of Strats and some LP's along the way too.

I have an HSS American Standard as well and while I still like the guitar it doesn't compare to the versatility in the HSH in my estimation. Specifically I don't like the 4 position on it the same way I do the 2 and 4 on the HSH... just doesn't mate as well. I'm not a wiring genious with the patience of setting up all kinds of aftermarket pickups that some guys on this forum are, so I like to buy a guitar off the shelf that hits what I'm after in most cases. I may swap out some pickups in the HSS, but that's about the extent of it.

Go grab the one you found, put a deposit on it if you have to, and play it. That's the best way to figure if it's for you or not. I doubt it'll hang around long! Less than 140 made in that configuration.
