Hey guys,

I found this online, and am very confused.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... _500wt_922

Ostensibly it's a Usa Standard Strat, but the certificate seems to suggest otherwise!! Is this somehow an aftermarket "joke" certificate or was this some kind of Limited Edition series built in 2005?

Are you and the seller refering to the term "custom built"
within the Custom Shop certificate?

Believe me, Fender throws out that word "custom" way too much.

It is a 1997 Strat.
N7xxxxx = Nineties 1997

In 2005, the Custom Shop custom painted it Inca Silver.
Still a 1997 with 2005 Custom Shop paint.

I'm calling BS on this one - I think it's a typical 1997 American Standard with a faked Fender Custom Shop certificate. I can recall seeing blank Fender CS Cerfiticates on eBay before so it would be easy to get one and fake a cerficate for your guitar.

Fender CS of course has done models based on the American Standard in the past - I think they were called "Custom Classics" or "Custom Americans" or something like that BUT they would clearly have the Fender CS logo on the back of the headstock and would have a CS serial number on the neck plate instead of having a standard Fender serial number like this guitar.

Faked me out. What is the gain?
A newer "certified" paint job?

Let's turn this over to the International Interpol Police.
Internet Fraud is serious business.
Find out where the OP bought it from.
