Hey everyone! So I've always decked my bridges for ever and today I decided to try floating one just in the name of maybe I'm missing something- always looking to get better ya dig? I got it set up fine- it's staying in tune etc. Might even like the action better- less string tension? Don't see how but seems like it... Anyway now that I'm raising the arm up as well as pushing down I'm noticing some slop there at the hole where the arm threads in. It's a bit disconcerting and doesn't seem like it'd be too good for the threads and stuff. I had a Callaham block once that had a bushing there. Is there a way to eliminate or improve this? I do thread the arm in as far as it goes without force and then back one turn so it falls out of the way when not in use. Also the little spring is gone. Don't know what it's there for...This guitar is really new Am Std btw. Thanks everyone!

The spring was there to help maintain a little tension on the arm, to keep iy from swinging loosely in the threads.

Just play it. If it wears out or breaks, upgrade it.

One quick and easy way to get the slop out of it is to wrap a little teflon tape around the threads. It'll have to be replaced now and then.

I do the same. I keep a roll of it in my ditty bag with picks, batteries, tools and other stuff I may need in a pinch.

Put a new spring in there. Get one at your guitar store. Use a couple of wraps of Teflon tape on the threads and screw it in. That will do it.
