My first electric guitar was the standard Squire Strat. I've had it now for almost 20 years, since I was 10. Since I was 12 and realized there was actually companies that made parts to mod the guitar with, I have been hooked on making that guitar a beast.

The Tremolo bridge has been blocked off, the tuners upgraded to locking ones, the nut has been replaced with one that actually isn't made of plastic. All in all, It's kind of a beast... for a Squire.

I bought a set of Seymour Duncan Antiquity P90 Soapbars intending to put them into a Gibson SG. Unfortunately a couple day before my pickups were set to arrive, my daughter was being chased by the dog, and ran into my SG, knocking it down, and therefore breaking the headstock on the guitar.

Now I'm not someone to get mad, so being the tinkerer I am, I wondered what to do with the pickups that I had ordered. So what I have decided to do is to take the Strat that I have, replace the pickguard, and put P90's in the neck and middle. Warmoth doesn't offer a P90 in the bridge and also keep the volume pot. In the future, I might put a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and really fatten everything up in that guitar.

When the pickguard gets here, I will be assembling the rest of the guitar as I have already completed the soldering work. I will post pictures on here for everyone to see my handywork.

P90s go very well with a strat. I have just finished my strat project with Tonerider Rebel90s which come pretty close to the P90 sound.
Sounds fantastic but be prepared to adjust your amp settings, P90s tend to be a little heavy on the base side (a little "wompy", if you know what I mean).
I reduced the bass on my Statesman half stack to almost zero.

I love the sound of that guitar!

To be honest: with p90s I would prefer a HH or HSH setup, with the p90s in bridge and neck positions, instead of putting them in neck and middle positions but that's just a matter of personal preference.
