Hi, my fender is a Eric Clapton Stratocaster®, Maple Fingerboard, Black
Model : 0117602806

My dad bought it while he was in Canada three years ago.
It has not been used much and suddenly it seems to be some problems with the jack input.
I have double checked the cable and the amp, trying on various guitars, cables and amps.
I have also changed the 9v battery for the mid boost.
The only sound that comes from the guitar is extremely low and if I take the jack out a couple of millimeters the sound gets louder and some what normal, but that is not the natural position of the jack anyway.

My Fender dealer here in Norway told me that since the guitar was bought in Canada he could not help me with warranty.
But I found this page: http://support.fender.com/warranty/FEND ... 9-2001.pdf
- claiming that a guitar bought in the USA or Canada with normal usage has a 5-year warranty on any parts.

So, here is the pickle, how to do proceed with this issue since I live in Norway, do I need to ship the guitar to Canada ?

Any help will be very appreciated!

You're taking about a part that costs $10 bucks and takes less than 15-minutes to change... shipping will cost you great deal more than that and also you risk the chance of damage during shipping - just pay your guy to change it out or this is a great opportunity to build your skills and do it yourself.

First of all, I do not really know if changing the part you talk of is going to fix the problem, and the minimum cost of maintenance at "my guy" is 100$.

I was thinking more in the direction that Fender might talk to one of their dealers in Oslo and tell them that they are going to fix my guitar on behalf of Fender.

You probably don't have to replace the part. take the 2 screws out that hold the jack on the guitar, take out the jack, plug a guitar cable into it and see if it's making good contact, the part that touches the tip of the plug might need to be bent a little.

Also check the 2 wires that are on the jack and make sure the connection didn't come loose.

+1!

Additionally: resolder the two cable connections if the previous advice doesn't fix the problem.
No need to claim warranty!
Too much hassle for a plain simple problem.

If you insist on claiming warranty: every Fender authorized dealer (even EVERY guitar shop) can send in the guitar to a Fender authorized repair shop in Norway to get the guitar fixed!
If they don't do it, they're simply too lazy or want you to get the guitar fixed in their own guitar "garage" for your money.

I'd contact another shop!! Their service seems to suck!

If "your guy" charges $100 to fix a output jack he is a thief and should do 27 years in a norwegian prison.

Hi peoples,
I'm sorry to tell you that you have linked to the wrong warranty (though the title is similar!!) The warranty you posted is for amplifiers, Power amps, PA's etc and is the 5 year transferable warranty.
If you have a look at http://support.fender.com/warranty/FENDER_LIMITED_LIFETIME_ELECTRIC_INSTRUMENT_WARRANTY_9-2001_revC.pdf
You'll see the guitar warranty, which again I'm sorry to tell you has a one-year warranty on parts and hardware, contained pretty close to the top of the page.

Also the posted warranty (I believe its on the bottom of the page) is only good in North America/Canada.....warranties in other countries are currently country dependent.

That being said, we do try very hard WHEREVER someone has a manufacturing defect~to honor the spirit of the warranty as posted.
If you would be so kind and PM me your email address, I'll get in touch with our rep for Norway and see if I can get some recommendation for a good place to have it checked out.
Best regards,
rob
