You would have to remove the metal inserts for the two posts, then dowel the holes, then drill the six holes for the vintage style bridge. It can be done, but IMO is not worth it, ruining the resale value. Better to get a body that has the vintage style six screw bridge.

It doesn't matter which one you use. You have to drill six holes, so pick the spacing that you want and go for it. Either 2-1/16" or 2-7/32", just drill the proper mounting spacing for the one that you want.

Officially there are two sizes, 2-1/16" (narrow spacing) and 2-7/32" (wide spacing). Get the one that you want and measure it for yourself, or use the bridge as a template for marking the hole pattern onto the body.

Sometimes the wide spacing will be referred to as 2-3/16".

Not worth it IMO, they're not that different and if you want a more vintage style/tone, just get a set of replacement bent steel saddles, Callaham and other have saddles that's made for the Am Std bridge.

If money allows, just get another Strat. That's what I plan on doing. One can never have too many Strats. Can I get an Amen!

The reason you probably don't want to redrill is because when you drill for a 6-screw bridge, those six holes need to be in a PERFECT line or else you'll have tuning issues. With two points it is easier - you can make a straight line with two points a lot easier than six points! This is why a lot of older strats had more tuning issues with the 6-point tremolo. With older equipment/jigs/templates there was enough slop and the bridge could get hung up on one or two that want to give problems. If you pull the bridge off of a lot of CBS era strats, you'll see they're kinda all over the place. These days with CNC manufacturing, it becomes pretty easy to have a very efficient 6-point tremolo; with a good setup, they can stay in tune pretty much as well as a 2-point.

So, the RIGHT way to do this would be to very carefully make a drilling template out of plexiglas, and drill it that way. The wrong way would be to just throw the body onto the drill press, because with bit wander, you'll never get a straight line.

It isn't impossible, but it is a lot harder than it looks. If you have a buddy with a machine shop, all the better!
