Hey guys. So I just bought an old Squier from my pal for £30. This guitar is going to be what I use to learn how to strip away paint, sand, and paint again and make a smooth, decent guitar out of.

I will do this quite a few times because I'm going to be ordering a Warmoth body from the States, and couple that with an original Fender Bridge, a set of Alnico pickups that I have and a reissue USA neck that my friend is selling. With all these parts I'm going to be making my own Strat!

I've never done anything like this, which is why I'm going to be spending a few months practicing on this Squier. I'm going to teach myself about the wiring and the electronics and work on being able to fit it all together nicely.

I'm not the most DIY friendly person in the world, but that's because I hate tiling and platering and the like. Although, that being said, I build PC's as a hobby, take them apart, build them for friends, upgrade constantly, also, I am pretty good with my Motorbike, I can service it fully, take it apart (not fully), clean the air filters etc. So I'm confident that with a bit of practice I can get the hang of it. Plus, there seems to be diagrams and schematics everywhere so it should be something I can learn with a bit of patience.

I am a bit iffy about the actual wiring, i.e what I need in the guitar. But perhaps that's something I can get some advice on.

Also, I don't want to mess anything up in terms of using the wrong tools. Can anyone give me some advice of the essential tools I will need to.

Strip the paint.
Sand.
Paint it. (A lot of places say acrylic, but others say the same paint they put on cars)
Finish it.
Work with the electronics/wiring.
And any other special tools that I might need.

I don't want to buy the wrong things.

I have been watching videos and reading but there's only so much that a video can dictate to you, and videos don't answer your questions.

Thanks :)
