Hi Dose anyone know if Fender are planning on launching a 60th Anniversary Strategy in 2016?

I'm sure that Fender will do some kind of medallion again in 2016 for the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the company.

They may well do something for the 60th Anniversary of the Strat in 2014, or maybe not. It might be something like the 40th Anniversary of the Strat when they really only put a medallion and special neck plate on the American Standards and did a small run of Custom Shop Anniversary Strats.

I think the main reason why they did a 60th for the Tele was because they really skipped over the Tele's 50th Anniversary year which would have hit in 2001/2002.

Sorry I know that this is probably common knowledge but can anyone explain what the 50th Anniversary strat in 1996 was an anniversary of? in which case will there be a similar anniversary in 2016, or have I totally lost the plot

yes sorry totally lost the plot I did of course mean the 50th anniversary strat in 2004

The Fender Electric Instruments company started in 1946.

The Fender Stratocaster first year was 1954.

So, there are Fender anniversaries and Strat anniversaries.

You can do the math.

I'd be surprised if they didn't commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Strat in some way. I have a 2006 Strat with the medallion on the back of the headstock, and a 2011 Tele with the 60th Anniversary neck plate.
