with the rebate from fender you can get a brand new one for $600, combine that with a GC coupon, or haggle a bit and you got brand new. Again used in even MINT no more than $500. If you got $600 go get a new one.

Hi DayTripperLennon: that depends entirely on whether it's the Made in America version, or the Mexican, or the Japanese. To be certain about that we need to know the serial number. The difference is several hundreds, so it matters.

Tell us the number and all things will follow.

Hi Ceri, yeah it's mexican. She says, "It's made in Mexico, got it directly from the distribution office in Corona."
I still sent her a text saying I'm willing to do $500 and so far she hasn't replied. I guess she didn't like my offer. SADLY.

Hi again DTL: a Mexican Strat and yet the seller claims $1400 was paid for it? Then either someone's misremembering, or someone was royally fleeced over the original purchase of that guitar!

I've never heard of someone buying a MIM Strat from a "distribution office" in Corona. Unless distribution office just means "shop".

I expect the seller is probably not trying to cheat you. I suspect what's happening here is the sale of a guitar that belonged to someone who's died or departed by some other means, and the seller simply doesn't know about instruments and has her wires crossed a little. So if you talk to her further be gentle with her, in case there are painful emotions in the background. You could always point her at this thread if she's doubtful about what you're telling her.

Still, bottom line:

New American Vintage Strat = $1600
New Mexican Classic 50s Strat = $600

Approximately.

Base a price for a second hand instrument on those numbers.

Good luck - C

So I came across this lady that's selling me this Stratocaster. But she has no clue if it's an american standard Stratocaster or anything of it. All she knows is that it's a Fender Stratocaster with synchronized tremolo (since that's what it says on the headstock.) She said it was a $1400 guitar. Any help with this one? :?:
I really want to buy this guitar she's giving me a pretty good deal but I'd like to know what I'm getting, I really dig this color.

Here's a 2 tone one posted on my local CL for $400. So I would maybe pay a little more for the Daphne Blue, but not much more.

I love the little diagram of the cross section of the neck and strings! Were you explaining to a tech; "Listen, I want the string action set up like THIS."

Neat! :D

I was doing a setup on this one on a slow night at work(I'm my own tech  ), My buddy is a machine operator, he came into my shop, so I was trying to explain to him how to do a bridge setup. Hes Serbian, so it was easier to explain it to him on paper. Good eye Ceri!
