I was in the market for a brand new one of these, a '57 most likely, and I was sad to see that beautiful Candy Apple Red get taken off the market. I'm just curious to know if they are going to release any new finishes in these great gutiars anytime this year, I usually see a new finish for each model every year...

Yes. They always do.
But, keep your eyes open on EBay and other sites.

They've apparently discontinued the '57 and '62 and replaced them with the new AVRI'56 and AVRI'59. So if you want a CAR '57 you'll need to look for a used one.

Don't you think the 57/62's will reappear?
Someday soon?

"Don't you think the 57/62's will reappear?

The '57 and '62 have been the foundation of the series since the introduction of the Vintage reissues and it's a little hard to imagine a world where Fender doesn't make them anymore. But things change and they're pretty redundant with the new '56 and '59. I think it's much more likely that they'll add a big-headstock reissue to the line instead of bringing back either the '57 or '62. Especially since they also dropped the AV'70s -- they need an AVRI '66 and '69 more than they need a '57 or '62 in the current lineup.

With the big price increase of the new AVRI's, I wouldn't be surprised to see an upgrading of the MIM Classic line to something close to the old AVRI specs. Especially since they spray nitro in Ensenada now -- I can imagine the Classic'50s and Classic'60s turning into the Classic'57 and Classic'62.

If they'd add some new colors to those MIM "Classic" lines I'd be interested. Say, Ice Blue Metallic, Dakota Red, Taos Turquoise, and Desert Sand.

And, a couple of months ago I bought the below highly modified & customized
2005 Fender 1962 or 1967 Reissue Telecaster. It has great action and feels great!
Even though this Reissue Telecaster has a ton of modifications.

Heard good things about the Reissues.
Not sure aboug AVRI changes.
My Telecaster and soon Jaguar will be all I know.

While this would undoubtably be a fine looking guitar, Charcoal Frost Metallic on a '59 platform does not fall within the protocols for a re-issue instrument. I think it would have to be ordered through the Custom Shop.

The guitar you're talking about is not an AVRI '62 Custom Tele but a modified MIM Muddy Waters signature Telecaster.

It's a Muddy Tele because of the skirted amp knobs.

The Muddy Waters Tele didn't have a bound body. Putting amp knobs on a '62 Custom (or '67 Custom or whatever it is) takes about 2 minutes, adding binding is much more difficult.

Occam's razor suggests that it's far more likely to heavily modified '62/'67 Custom than an insanely intensively modified Muddy.

Geezzzzzz. Too many guitars on my mind.
Which one in particular are you pointing to for the Muddy Waters Tele?
Thanks. Toppscore

I see. You guys are discussing my Red Telecaster.
According to the seller Axehandler of Phenix Arizona:

Fender's Limited Edition Series 1960s Custom Telecaster w/Bigsby “F” Tailpiece.
There is a link below that describes thel advertised features
on the Fender website under "1960s Custom Telecaster w/Bigsby"
I believe it is from 2006.

Seller claims" "KILLER GUITAR. MADE ONE VERY SIMILAR FOR MIKE BRUCE (Alice Cooper)
TWO YEARS AGO. ALSO BUILT GUITARS FOR THE LATE GLEN BUXTON (Alice Cooper)
THE FENDER MODEL THIS WAS BUILT AROUND SOLD FOR JUST UNDER $1800 (MSRP)
THIS ONE HAS OVER $1000.00 INVESTED IN PARTS"

This was a troubled guitar from it’s arrival.
It arrived with two skirted knobs for the 1972 Custom Telecaster look.
Looked good, but a skirt rubbed against a switch plate bolt ~ did not seat properly.
I purchased two heavy chrome knobs, but I do like the mixed look ~ back black, front chrome.
The setup was horrible. The action was ½” high at the 21st fret.
There was no mention about the “non-active/non-working” TBX type push/pull volume knob
The high “E” and the “G” strings kept popping off the nut.
Just a bunch of minor league things one WOULD NOT EXPECT from a custom shop
that advertised it’s name on the pickguard and headstock.
I got the seller to pay $100 for a complete setup and a thorough check of the electronics.
My guitar guy found an UN-NEEDED Shimm under in the neck pocket.

So, now I am real happy and the Bigsby does not bother tuning,
there is no nut jumping, the chrome & black knobs are cool, the action is great.
Therefore, for $100 I have no relationship with the owner, but I have a working guitar :)
I like it so much, there is not need to get another Telecaster
(I have lots of Strat/Super Strat guitars, each with different features.)

Anybody still think it is a Muddy Waters special.
Can anybody identify the year Teles with Bigsby and double bindings were shipped?
Thanks again. Toppscore
