I have a 2001 American series with the tremolo With the block saddles. I want to upgrade to the tremolo they started using in 2008 With the vintage style saddles. would ths be a direct replacement or a difficult job and would it even fit?

Just replace the saddles, you don't have to change the whole bridge.

The term bar feels like it may be stripped. When I tighten it down it never really feels right. Kind of feels like its cross threading. also I read that the better block has better sustain. I figured I'd just go with a whole new unt but don't want to have to drill different holes.
Thanks

The 2008 US Standard bridge uses a copper-infused steel block.

2001's had offset intonation screws so you can't just replace the saddles with vintage-style.

The new bridge is a simple drop-in replacement. Take off the strings, unhook the springs and then just lift the bridge away from the pivot posts. Put the new bridge in place, hook up the springs, restring, adjust the saddles heights & intonation. The hardest part is keeping the bridge in place while you attach the springs.

If the original pivot posts have any wear you might want to go ahead and replace them with the new ones that come with the new bridge, but that's optional.

+1 forgot about the offset screw, haven't messed with non vintage bridge in a while. Good catch strayedstrater.

I'm having a hard time finding the two point bridge like the american standards have now. It's part no. 0075091000

Looks like this. Everyone on line seems to be sold out.

I'm sure you can get one ordered, I have a couple of 6-points laying around, but that won't help you.

You can get vintage style saddles with the off-set screw from Callaham.
