I'm looking for some thoughts from people who use or have tried using noiseless single coil pickups in an HSS config. Just had enough of the single coil hum.

I play an HSS config Lonestar Deluxe strat with Texas Specials in the neck and middle and a Pearly Gates plus in the bridge thru a VoxAC15C1. Not really tied to either of the pickups, so I'm not simply trying to duplicate the Texas Specials in a noiseless pickup, though I'm not opposed to that either. As far as the HSS format, I'd like my single coils such that there isn't a huge change in volume when switching from the bridge humbucker to the single coils - lots of pickup switching in my playing. So that's my one requirement.

In terms of tone & what I play, I want something that can cover a lot of ground. I love single coil, stratty cleans, Chili Peppers crunch, and SRV drive. Blues, rock, funk, whatever. I very rarely play completely clean, usually like a little bit of crunch. Would like something that really responds to playing dynamics and pick attack.

Not looking for "noiseless = toneless" comments or "it's whatever sounds best to you". I'll play as many pups as I can, but want to narrow my search. Not looking for noise gates or shielding techniques- just your experience with noiseless pickups and what did or didn't work.

I really appreciate any feedback.

Look no further than the DiMarzio Virtual Vintage/Area series of pickups. They offer several choices which should nicely match up to your requirements.
