I was looking at the American Deluxe with the V neck and comparing it to the EC Production (which also has the V neck, my preference). Both come with noiseless pups, albeit slightly different ones. It appears that the main difference is the electronics on the EC. For someone that doesn't gig, will the electronics make that much of a difference to warrant spending an additional $300? Or should I save the $$?

Also, I was reading somewhere where the Jimmy Vaughan strat has American electronics and the same soft V neck as the EC production and the Amer. Dlxe. If that is true, isn't that axe basically an American guitar even if assembled in Mexico? If so, its probably the cheapest American strat or the best Mexican strat made. I mean if Toyota is assembling the Camry in the US but all the parts are Japanese, do we say its an American car?

Cut to the chase: Find a dealer who has all three on the wall and spend some serious time auditioning them with, hopefully, as close to the same amplifier as the one you own, and pick the one that suits you. Although seemingly similar in foundation, these are three very different voices, and you have to choose the one which meets all your needs. After you've done so, ORDER the guitar. DO NOT BUY IT OFF THE WALL!!!You want a newbie, right out of an UNOPENED carton, unless you feel the one you're holding is clean enough and they'll give you a discount off the sticker price. Clean means almost no dings or scratches, and check the pickguard carefully, That ought to give you an idea of how heavily it has been played.

Good luck!

Be sure to check out the 57 vintage hotrod strat as well, that is very close to an EC, of course with the exception of the DiMarzio tone zone bridge pu. Check the specs on the Fender website, part for part, the 57 HR I thought, was the closest (that's why I bought the 57 HR) to an EC, and it comes in black w/ single ply pick guard & maple neck (soft v).
Good Luck - all of your choices are excellent!!! :D

I play several Clapton songs along with blues and country. The HR has amazing tone for all. The SCN bridge & middle pups are really nice & the neck is extremely playable. :D

....and if the price point is comfortable for the author who posted the subject, the '57 HR neck may be found to be more preferable than the V-.

Yeh...they do things like that! Once found a Les Paul Custom Shop Heritage Classic sitting in its case, tied up with a pretty silver and black bow, in the entry foyer of my home one evening. Quilted tobacco sunburst maple top, '60's neck, burstbuckers. Killer guitar. Had admired it hanging on the wall. Not another one like it seen anywhere by me in the four years I own it. She told me the salesperson wanted to know if she could use another husband.

Then there was the Blue Whale quilted maple top with gold hardware PRS
Custom 24 she picked out for me one year.

My CS Strat.....that was my design.

Then they tell you put a sock in it because you're playing too loud!!!

Wonder what Ralph Kramden would have done with Alice had been piloting a Stratocaster instead of a bus.

Enjoy your guitar!
