You'll notice that it's advertised as a Fender AM Standard 2012 Strat MN BK, electric guitar, 2012 thomann series.

Either the guy selling it is a moron, or he's hoping too find a moron for a buyer.

Thomann is Europe's biggest musical instrument dealer, so I'd assume a Thomann Series is some sort of FSR they had built for them.

My gut feeling is that the seller is clueless, looked at Google trying to figure out what he has and got confused by the overwhelming variety of different Strat models. If he was a scammer I doubt he'd show the pic of the serial number and "Made in Mexico" label.

E-Mail exchange I had with the seller:

Thank you. As indicated in muy post, I am not familiar with them and SIMPLY COPIED the information that was on the sticker of the box it was shipped in from Fender.

Yes, it is in fact made in Mexico. If anyone is interested in 500.00 they are WELCOME to offer it. I never claimed the it had "pick ups". The hand tag that is on the guitar shows who built it. I thought it was hand made.

Thank you so much for your email.

** CRAIGSLIST ADVISORY --- AVOID SCAMS BY DEALING LOCALLY
** Avoid: wiring money, cross-border deals, work-at-home
** Beware: cashier checks, money orders, escrow, shipping
** More Info: http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams

Your guitar is NOT an American Standard Strat and does NOT have the pickups you claim it has. It is a Mexican Standard Strat as indicated by the serial number and “Made In Mexico” on the back of the headstock. It is NOT hand made. These sell new for $500.

Sorry to pick nits, but new MIM standards have been reduced to $450 thru Sept 3rd. Makes the $800 asking price even more ludicrous.
