I'm looking to buy an American Standard Tele. Interested in a 2012. I'm new to the guitar buying game. Is this like in cars, where dealers will drop the price of last year's model, so GC or MF will drop the price of 2012's when the 2013 comes out?

If so, is there a traditional time window when new models are released? Are we approaching that? Thanks for any insight.

Just my opinion (and we all know what they're like... ) but I'd be surprised if next years American Standards are any different than this years... they just received a makeover for 2012. (New pups & aged plastic parts) However, if you're lucky, perhaps they'll release a new color or two but I'd be surprised... but hey Fender, if you're listening, how about Ocean Turquoise, Teal Green, Blue Agave, Dakota Red, Firemist Gold, or...

As far when such announcements are made, it's usually around the time of NAMM, but it escapes me when that happens exactly.

I would add dark purple metallic
chrome blue, and sherwood green!

YES! If Fender would grant me one wish, it would be for more colors to choose from per run of guitars. The selections are so, so narrow and I too am holding out to see what comes of the 2013 models.
