Its fake The s/n is not a custome shop s/n. The V is a vintage RI number. It should start with an R.

According to this thread, Custom Shops can have the Vintage RI number:http://www.tdpri.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-169345.html

Anyways, emailed Fender Consumer Relations to try to find out a bit about this guitar. Hope that helps.

Alright, spoke to Consumer Relations. They can't figure out what the heck this thing is, so they're forwarding it to the Custom Shop to try to dig up something. Definitely not looking good...

I wouldn't let that bother you too much, the CS has their own way of doing things.

Success!

It turns out it's a '60 Custom Shop by John Page. Talked to a rep on the phone and it matches.

Serial number was VO56197, not V056197 (oops!)

Hiya pokejj,
Ahh good!! they got you the answer.....It gets a little tricky sometimes....not sure how much they gave you but this one is right on the edge of being able to track it as our digitized records only reach to about 1993.
From what i see, everything looks good, including the letter (though its not quite correct)
This tracks to a well know dealer in Vancouver BC and was completed 9/9/1993.
If it matches up to the specs below (which it looks like it does) its probably it.
All the best,
rob
